Anyone see the new Outdoor Life article on Ice Fishing for sharks through the ice in Greenland? Looked pretty cool, In Florida some of the sharks like black tips taste pretty good but they say these taste like urine.

What is that a 6 or 7 gilled shark I think they have. Now, how do they know what urine tastes like?. Looks like great fun to me too. I met a guy from Alaska that said he fished for snow and king crabs thru the ice up there.

I,ve got better things to spend 4,000 dollars on than ice shark fishing......it would be fun though...........

I would not want to lug their auger out to the spot. It would have to have a Hemi.:D

Wonder what the Vexilar would look like? A fish 20 bars wide would freak me out.

I actually saw a program about this type of shark on the discovery channel. There is urine in the meat.......I believe it has something to do with helping them survive in the artic ocean. The native people catch the sharks and then burry them so they will start to rot. Once they have been burried for so long the urine has been expelled from the meat to a point where it is no longer toxic they dig them up and eat the meat. They also showed people catching birds on the sides of cliffs with what looked like a dip net that had a 20 foot pole. Quite an interesting program....they shot a seal from a couple hundred yards so they would have something to eat on their journey out to the village.

I think those reels they use would have to have a Hemi on them to reel those monsters in.I would like to try it once just for catch and release though.:D
