Muskrats on wax worms

Was out fishing with a friend yesturday.It was a great day weather wise.We got some dink perch,lost a big slab gill,landed 7 pike but none legal size,we each landed a bass that would go close to 5lbs. and I got one walleye that was 17".Everything released but the walleye.About 4:30 my buddy starts yelling that he had hooked something big and was really flipping out,he horsed aruond with it for a while and when he got it to start up into the hole,he jumps up and backed away from the hole and a muskrat came out.The rat was hooked in the upper lip and was slapping at it's face with it's paws.My partner gave the line a good tug and the tear drop came loose and the rat ran back to the hole and down he went.The fishing was only fair but it was worth the trip just to watch my friend canagle that muskrat out of the hole....It was absolutly hilarious............

Too bad you didn't have a video camera. That would have been on every fishing show this year, and would have been awesome to see.

I haven't ever caught one on the line, but I have had them pop up though the hole to say HI.......Scared the crap out of me!........Patch

I once caught a ground hog on fishing pole using a piece of beef jerky for bait.Dropped the bait in the hole where the ground hog was and bam he went for it.It was released hopefully to not be caught again.:D

There isn't much that stops your heart as quickly as being shocked by a muskrat through your ice fishing hole. Your concentrating on the bobber and all of a sudden a hairy rat pops up. :eek:

That would freak me out, another good reason not to ice fish.

last year with ozzgood fishin a little lake, i had a muskrat come up my fishin hole... I think i screamed like a little girl and damn near fell off my chair. I wasn't exactly ready for one of them rodents...... I will be next time though. I'm sure chad was damn near dyin laughin.
