If You have a perm. shanty on LSC You have till Sunday 2-22-04 at sun down to remove it from the ice. They have to be removed at sun down every day after that date.

I have never, ever, heard of that rule being enforced. I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for it. I've been using a permanent shanty for 21 years, and bring it in with the quad when the ice thickness goes down to 6 to 8 inches, regardless of what the date is on the calendar. The permanent shanty users don't want to lose them after going through the trouble of building one, so we may move them closer to shore in case of an ice flow breakoff. But other than that, I'm not worried about it.

Dan is correct about the shanty removal. You can be ticketed, but as of late common sense by the D.N.R. has prevailed.
