Are the spots beeing fished for Perch, within walking distance? How about the area around Metro Beach - Selfridge. Would like to get the Kids on some fish (Perch). Is it possible to jigg for Walleyes in the same area? Thanks for any info! Bob WC#253.

You can walk. The ice is slick so wear some cleats.

Best place for walleyes would be Metro-Genos-Crocker area.

About a mile or so out, but thats not to say some aren't in closer.

All the spots on the lake are within a walking distance. The farthest out is Gino's. If you are just targeting walleye, then I would try another lake. If you are in search of perch, and a "bonus" walleye, then give it a try. By the way, did anyone else hear of the walleye and perch being "really" shallow?..

This is a reply to twoatatime asking about shallow perch. I was out at Metro on Thursday and caught some very nice perch at the 8 foot level. Because I also heard about shallow perch I decided to auger a dozen holes in the 2 to 5 foot water, did'nt even get a nibble. I know people get them in the shallows but darned if I know what to look for. My theory- as long as you find weeds you'll find perch.
