oneeyedclarence

I thought I`d see at least one Mich. sportsman Banner, or some kind of advertising. Never the less, excellent job guys.

It's cool to see some fellow members from the site get rewarded with some TV exposure. Nice segment guys!!

02-19-2004, 09:47 PM
The site was mentioned verbally at the begining of the clip. I thought it was a great clip. I liked how she mentioned about the safety of icefishing. Finally a positive comment on icefishing

Howdy-

Great segment! She actually mentioned how most people hadn't met before; how y'all hooked up on the Internet under Michigan-Sportsman.com!

Recognized N_O, kbkrause, and IFN. Group shot was too quick to pick anyone out. What is the screen name of the member Jenny spent so much time with? Way cool watching him spear perch!

OK, after this type of exposure, we'll hit 10,000 members in no time!

Great show. Loved seeing everyone. Two things though.

1. I thought there wasn't going to be any advertisement. Seems that saying the web address at the beginning was a pretty big advertisement.

2. N-O, sounded like you had a bad day, the auger fell out of the drill, lost your GPS and didnt catch any fish. I feel for ya man.

Jenny got the address out of me,,,, I never knew that we werent supposed to mention it...... Thought she forgot all about it!!!!!:D

Just finished watching the show myself. Neat to see some fellow MS.com members on the airwaves. Saw Don do a demo with his Dewalt cordless drill auger attachment. That segment was cool with the perch spearing. Had never seen that done before. I could get into that kind of fishing real easy. Did see one of the members in their MS.com hat for a second.

Thanks for sharing your info.

IFN, the only time you didn't get any fish and you were caught on video :) Just kidding.

Great show, and the section on the steelhead slammers was also good.

AWESOME! That had to be one of their best shows! I was wondering where she found out about the site...I thought I told everyone not to mention it. It was hard planning this show decideing when and where to go and such but in the end I led them to some great people and some awesome footage and even though I got skunked and lost my Gps It was still FUN!!!!!!

Treeman is the guy with the decoy and spearing...GREAT JOB TREEMAN!

Thanks again to all who made this a success!

Matt...awesome steelhead! I was at the edge of my seat and my co-workers looked at me and said, " Man...fishing is really in your blood!!!"

Steve
02-19-2004, 10:21 PM
That show keeps getting better. That segment with the Treeman spearing through the hole was fascinating. He doesn't mess around with those fish. Looks like I need to rig a chain saw up to cut holes. Like the short stick method of yanking them fish outta there.

northern_outdoorsman
02-19-2004, 10:23 PM
Ice fishing nut...too funny....Jenny: "How's it going?" Ice Fishing Nut: "Nutting" LMAO!

That and "POOR DON" Man I had a blast even if I got skunked and lost my GPS!

Kevin
02-19-2004, 10:31 PM
Excellent fellas!
You all represented well, and it looks like you had a good time.
Boy that big open hole for spearing sure is cool!

And Don with a fresh haircut for the cameras? :D

sure, no one recognized my fat butt on the ice..... sniffle sniffle. Guess i won't be using this as a springboard to launch my cinematic career. LOL

Funny you mention the hair thing, Amos. Seems like even when Don gets up at 4 am, he still manages to find time to do his hair before a day of fishing. :D Even when he is not on TV!!!

Big holes are cool but dont let Mr.Buddy fall in!! :D :D :D Ring...ring...

I saw a fish today swimming around with a purple GPS looking for something....any ideas?

Cool show, really enjoyed it, y'all!

That was a great day. Treeman and Jenny did most of the work.:) Thanks to Ken Martin and N_O for setting it up.
Don. Jenny even made our instant silence at the bait shop look good on film :) A spear purchase will be in my future.

Hey MSUICEMAN,

I did reconize you and told my wife it was you. She thought I was nuts and spend to much time on the pc.

Although I have never met anyone from here someday I will. I thought it was such a great show I ended up staying up until it came on again at 11:30 to tape it. Then ofcourse I had to get on the computer to see all that was written about the show.
Great job guys!!!!

Great job guys. That guy with the spear is dangerous. The show will be on Sat. afternoon for those that didn't see it. One of the best ice fishing shows that I've seen. Wish I was there.

WALLEYE MIKE
02-20-2004, 07:24 AM
Jnpcook, if the guy with the M/S hat was in all orange, that would be me. Group shot at the end, I was on the far left. Kbkrause had his hat on too.

Jenny said she does visit the site about once a week. I mentioned to her to register and become a member.

I met treeman last fall and I obviously didn't ask him enough questions about his ice fishing abilities.......I could have learned a lot about decoying perch. I think I would find that very useful for Saturday. ;)

Great job guys. You did the site proud.

bully06
02-20-2004, 08:07 AM
Did you notice how shallow the water was for the guy spearing the perch in the shanty, he couldn't have been out very far, that goes to show you that you don't have to go out to BFE 2.5 miles out to get some nice perch. Great job on the video segment, wish I was there.

WALLEYE MIKE
02-20-2004, 08:30 AM
Bully06, we were out about a mile. Bouvier bay is shallow6-7 ft or less for the whole bay.

William H Bonney
02-20-2004, 08:48 AM
The "expert gaffer" caption, was HILARIOUS!

I recognized you, MSUICEMAN. The only problem I see with your cinematic career is that you have some pretty stiff competition there in Lansing. They have some pretty darn good "actors" that do a show, almost every Saturday, in the fall. You can usually catch the show around noon.

sorry,,,,,, I just couldn't let it go:rolleyes:

02-20-2004, 08:59 AM
Yes, Jenny is single and she is quite the nice lady. Would be a great catch for one of you single guys. She did a great job of editing and narrating the show. I am glad that you all enjoyed it. The depth of the water can be deceiving. It was 6 ft deep where we were. Decoys will help to attract fish wherever you go, even if you cannot spear. They will also attract pike, steelhead, brown trout and muskies. If you try using them, it should improve your catch rates.

Special thanks to Don, Ken and all of the others that worked to organize the outing. It was their big, behind the scenes effort that made it all happen.

Real good show. Bad news is now I have to buy a fish decoy, when will the madness stop. I never, ever thought about using one but after seeing that last night it seems like it would be worth a shot.

02-20-2004, 09:28 AM
Great show guys! Glad to put a few more names with the faces. I thought Jenny did a great job editing and narrating that segment.

I was very impressed with the way the decoys brought in the perch…would’ve been cool to see a BIG musky & pike to come in and grab it!. Anyone have any plans on how to make one of those decoys?

Thought the Slammer Tip-up segment was pretty cool too, only wished the fish would have cooperated a little more though!

Again GREAT job guys! :D

Mario M
02-20-2004, 09:31 AM
First comment: Treeman, you're the man. I've never seen anyone use decoys to collect perch. It looked like you took your 50 in that 5 minute segment. You're gonna have to paint your shanty now. You should also get commission on decoy sales around town.

I never knew such a collection of ugly bastages could make such a great show!! JK fellas, great show. Even though I wasn't there that day and have only been a member for a couple months now, it's amazing how good it feels to be part of something good. This should send the skull caps flying off the shelves!!.

It's cool to put faces on the names I hear on the 2-way radio.

Hopefully what I am catching will be perch. :)

fish patroll, be careful with that statement!!! it might not be so fun being outfished and out hunted by a pretty woman!!!:D

just kidding jenny. surely she would be a great catch!

Come on it takes exactly 28 seconds to put some gel in your hair and run a comb through it after a shower...

whats gel? is that like the stuff from the movie "something about mary"?:D :p ;)

i didnt know guys used gel...:D :D

MSUICEMAN
02-20-2004, 11:57 AM
gel huh? well, i guess its better than mousse (sp?) LOL, Thanks Ken and Don to set that up, it was an absolute blast. Very funny about the football team being actors, I somewhat believe in that, but we'll see after a couple years of John L's recruiting what he comes up with (who knows, our basketball team wasn't that great then Izzo started to get them on a roll).

Look forward to doing it again sometime. I really needs to get one of Jim's decoys, or maybe just pay for some of Meldrums ones, though i heard they aren't nearly as nice.

Can someone say permanent shanty next year?

Steve, mea culpa for not mentioning you in my first post! When I pointed you out to the kids last night ("That's MSUICEMAN") they both said "Oh, yeah! We met him at Mr. Bill's Pig Roast."

I just forgot about it last night (after all, it was 10 minutes after I watched it...)

Gel? Man I quit using that stuff when I was about 21. Glad to see someone hanging in there. That must of been a garmin e-map that you lost. I have had mine for 3-4 years now, this year I got a map 76 for x-mas , and I don't like it as much as the e-map. It probaly is a better unit, but that e-map is just too damn easy to use. You can't buy them at the store anymore. Not sure about e-bay, hell I might even consider selling mine, It isn't really necessary to have 2.

Swamphound
02-20-2004, 01:23 PM
ok, looked on line for a decoy at bass pro and didn't find one...I have a feeling there is going to be a run on them.

Not sure where this is going to go, but we could push the envelope and develop one with robo-fins and have some more controversy for ice fisherman(cause we need more bad publicity).

DNR considers ban on Robo ducks and Robo-fins...

Have to start another forum heading traditional/quality perch management vs tech perch management. QPM'ers only harvest perch with home made jigs and hand lines. While the tech guys are out there with the Vexlars, robo fins and any other gadget they can come up with:D

Sorry....... bored on a Friday
