Yesterday out at Gino's I noticed some kind of brownish slim or sludge on my lines at the end of the day.
For some reason I am thinking that I have seen this before, but can't recall if it was during ice fishing last year or during a soft water time frame.
Did anyone else have this, and also does anyone know what it is.
Thanks
Eric

Gillgitter, You may not be too far off the point. I would bet that being close in proximity to the spillway there is a chance it could be just what you think. Hopefully its just sludge. There sure is a good flow in the Clinton River these days.

This was straight out from Ginos about 1/2 mile. didn't notice it in the morning, but when I pulled my lines up at the end of the day there was this slime on, It looked like someone had dipped the lines in a light oil.
that remark about the light oil is makin me rethink my weekend, man that sucks:eek:

It might be from on top of the ice when the ice melts the water will drain in your hole and with all the cars, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and quads its probably off the ice thats why you did'nt get it in the am the ice was'nt melting just my thoughts. so remember the next time you have to relieve yourself out there where it ends up eventually

its just dirt and everythibg else even on inland lakes i fish my lines get dirty, it gets worse during late ice cause all the dirt in the snow flows in to your hole. if it bothers you just run ur line through a towel or rag when you reel up at the end of the day.
