My experience on the Metro eyes is to wait until the lilacs (sp) bloom on the lake front and then go out. You can troll hot n tots and get pike and smallies but very few eyes.

My experience (along with the Lilacs) is the water temp needs to be 60* or better before the walleye bit is good on LSC. Anchor Bay last friday was 49* in the dirty water and 47* in the clearer water. Second or third week in May has been marked on My calander for many years.

Is waiting for the lilacs to bloom common knowledge. I thought it was something my father made up. Must be true.:)

I was thinking of tring at the mouth of the Clinton or spillway this Sunday. Walleyes should be coming back to the lake from spawning up river. What do you guys think? Good idea?

Woolybugger,
If your dad made up the idea about the lilacs I'd like to thank him.
I've been using them as an indicator for the spawn cycle for many years.
It appears that when the lilacs are just starting to bud that the hens have just started the spawn cycle.
When the flower starts to develop the jacks are active with the hens.
When the flower is in full bloom the cycle is about over. That's when I go to the big water.
This may not be documented data but it works for me.
Besides if its wrong, it's still a good reason to go fishing. :)
