What jigging techniques do you use when using a wooden spearing decoy? My experience is mostly with live decoys. How much and how long do you jig? Do you pause, if so how long? How fast or slow do you jig? I got a good one Saturday by jigging wildly until it tangled. As I was untangling it the pike came in. What techniques do you use?

you might also try spinning your line up so the decoy spins in circles i have heard this works really good my dad makes spearing decoys and he sets some up to spin in circles.

I do not use a fake decoy anymore, I only use a live 13" sucker on a harness. What I do is, I take out a jiggin spoon, I've used Crocodiles, daredevils, KO wobblers, anything with a lot of flash and I jig that in the hole. This year I've had the most luck jigging a crocodile vigourously for about 30 seconds and then wait for about 4-5 minutes and then repeat the process. Last year Jigging all the time worked the best. I do take the treble off the jigging spoon though, I've had pike missle in on the spoon so many times that I couldn't move it fast enough to avoid the pike hitting it, I'd rather spear em than hook em. Maybe this will help.
