View Full Version : Panfishing
Has anyone been out panfishing near the Holland area? I was also thinking of going up to Hamlin Lake in mid May, how have they done over the years? For those of you that enjoy panfishing, what is your favorite strategy?

I haven't fished there but When I do fish for panfish I don't care what people say A bobber is always great
Watching closely and then a little tug and then a little more watching in anticipation and just maybe they pull it under or the tugging continues and when it stops you check your hook and you say to your self the darn thing took my worm again.
But for some strange reason ya just keep trying

I like to use the ultralight rod. Sometimes when there are a lot of panfish in a spot I dangle the worm on the hook an inch or two above the water and watch the fish jump to get it.
How old is a three inch long panfish? Is that a year's growth?

I prefer the fly rod. Bluegills are top water feeders and go crazy for the flies. I have also done well with nymphs for crappie.:)
