I hope not. That would be too close. I already spend to much money at Cabelas. If they move that close I will have to refinance my home.

I went to Cabelas the day before the LSC outing and they had no hand augers, no spud bars, no Rapala ice lures, and stopped carrying the bait bucket lids with the bubblers built in. I ended up just buying some bait and that's it. Boy was I disapointed, I had no auger at that point for the outing the next day. I got lucky and bought the last 8" hand auger at the Belleville Dunhams. I had to call 3 before I found one! I only live 15 minutes away. OK....had to rant for a second, that was one awful trip. I usually enjoy going there. They may not be getting as much of my business in the future.

ibt,

problem is that by the time the second week of february rolls around almost everyone is out of stock on a lot of ice fishing items. Most places get ONE shipment a year. Once it's gone that's it until next year. Just gotta get used to shopping early.

Sounds good to me. I have never been down to the Cabelas store, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. If they put one by birch run I will most definatly check it out. I prefer to purchase my sporting goods through local stores, but I love going to these super stores just to look around and maybe buy a few small things.

Amen to that MI Buckmaster. It's bad enough having Lunker's 2 minutes down the road, Gander Mt. 35 min, and Dick's 10 min!

That would be cool. I live about 5 miles from the described location in birch run, that golf course has been out of business for a couple of years now so it wouldnt suprise me to see something happen there. And with the outlet mall there, theres already a bunch of people there all the time. probably would be a good spot for one.

Rumor in the White Lake area was Cabelas was going to locate at the Fruitvale exit Montague to generate another destination tourist area developing a small town like they did at Dundee. This would cover the US-31 freeway on the West side of the state. Dundee covers Toledo east and Montague covers Chicago west.

Hey reef, There is a vast wasteland just to the south of you that needs something like Cabela's to give it a boost. It is called down town Muskegon. It looks neat down there now as you can see where Western Ave used to be.

I doubt very much that Cabela's would put another store in Michigan. With the amount of money they put into the stores and the draw they have they don't need them very close together.

I heard that the Cabela's in Dundee is the number one (#1) tourist destination in Michigan.
I'm 20 minutes from Birch Run and it would sure be a lot closer to go there.

Birch Run makes far more sense than Dundee does considering the enormous amount of hunters and traffic traveling north on 23 & 75. It would be great to have one that close to home. It seems to take forever to get to Dundee from north Oakland County.

Although other than the one in Kansas City most of them are in out of the way places where property values and taxes are much lower then city locations.

Never went to the one in Dundee, but heard lots of good things about it. This location would be MUCH closer, plus the wife can go to the Outlet Mall while I'm spending half day in there ;)

A Cabelas in Birch Run! Holy cow! By the time I stop at Bass Pro in Auburn Hills, Gander Mountain in Flint, Hooters, Normans & Mills End in Bay City, Franks in Linwood and Jays in Clare, not mention the occasional mom & pop shops scattered along the way and now possibly a Cabelas its gonna be time to come home! My weekend and wallet will be shot! When am I gonna find time to hunt & fish?

I hope so. Do you know how many jobs a Cabela's store brings? Lots, with the store itself than the many buisnesses and restraunts and hotels all around it. Than the land around the store increases in value, not to mention the thousands given to the farmers whose feild they build on. Big Big Money.

First off I would love it. I doubt it will happen though. Unless some major hurdles are over come. The purposed land has some problems to clear up before the auction of the property. Plus, we have had a limit on water from the city of Saginaw. This has put a stop to any large business' moving in. We have a planned Meijers store that they have put a hold on construction due to the water problem.

It would be perfect. The Birch Run/Frankenmuth exit is the second busiest exit on I-75. Only second to Orlando.

As for the farmers getting big dollars for land. That has already happened.

I say get rid of the mall and put the Cabelas in.

If it does happen, it will be a smaller store than the one in Dundee. These rumors have been surfacing since a year after they opened the first one so who knows.

If they had any sense, they would put one on the West side of the state. :D

There is a huge population of outdoorsman over here that have driven to Dundee but would spend big $$$ if the store was somewhere around GR, K'Zoo, or even Lansing!

Two stores on the East side just doesn't make sense to me???

I told my buddy about it and he alrerady heard from his brother in law who had heard it from our business representative. We all belong to the same local union. So If the B.A. (business Agent) knows about it the rumors are probably true as he would be concerned getting it built by union members.

I think it would be great, but on a side note, if it happens, they should seriously think about adding another lane to I-75. That right lane gets jammed up real good now because of the outlet mall.

Bring it on:D

If they put the same size one at Birch Run that is in Dundee, it would sell more merchandise from June-December that the one in Dundee does in a year. Every Detroiter would make it a regular stop on the way up north. Every Frankenmuth visitor would stop there and many Cabela's shoppers would make a day out of it and go to Frankenmuth. Throw in the outlet mall portion of the puzzle and they'll be carting out money by the wheel barrel load while also bringing increase traffic to the mall and rest of the area.

Man!... That would be GREAT to have one in Birch Run!!!

I have been to the other one in Dundee,... that's quite a drive for me 4 hours one way!

I'd spend most of my day just driving back and forth. If a Birch Run outlet happens it would cut my drive time in half :D and increase my spending by double.

There never seems to be enough hunting and fishing gear at home for some reason, I always seem to be able to find ANOTHER gotta have item.
