Here are a few reports I have been delinquent in submitting.

Good Friday fished a lake in NW Washtenaw Cty. Weather was awesome, mid 60s with clear sky and no wind. Fished from 3pm - dark (8:30p.m.). We were fishing for crappie and perch but cleaned up on the largemouth (8 fish, ranging from 10-14 inches) and pike (3 fish, 18-22 inches). Fish came on a variety of things: white jig head with white bucktail, double hook drop shot rig with minnows on both hooks, drop shot rig with one minnow and one fluourescent green twister tail. Drag the rig on the bottom, with the hooks 18 and 24 inches above the bottom. No sonar, but we were anchored in 18-24 feet of water. Water temp estimated at 48-49 degrees.

Easter Saturday fished the same lake. Weather was low 60's, gusty winds and overcast. Got one largemouth on a white jig head (1/4 oz.) with neon orange twister tail. Fished a steep dropoff, in 18 feet of water.

Went out today on the same lake, this time using sonar. Weather was low 70s, mostly cloudy with gusty winds. Son had a few bites on a double hook drop shot rig with a single crawler (poor man's crawler harness). I had no luck on all of the above mentioned rigs. Used sonar to accurately position in the middle of a steep dropoff, starting at 3 feet of water, dropping to 23 feet. Many fish marked, suspending at 15 feet in 20 feet of water. Water temp 51 deg. Gills should be bedding soon.

Saw a guy take a nice (16-18 inch) smallie from the Huron River below Geddes Dam. Fish was taken on a black thing, could have been a twister tail/jig or a skunk type fly.

Last, fished this evening on a backwater pond of a local creek. Mapped the bottom and found a 10 foot hole, and two 12-14 foot holes. Saw lots of rises/swirls but I think the sonar and our paddling spooked the fish. Managed one small white crappie on a double drop shot rig under a bobber, using two minnows. Weather was low 70s, mostly cloudy and decreasing winds. Saw a couple guys there leaving as we got there. YPSIFLY, was that you?? One guy told me he got a 10" green bass.

Can you tell my favorite rig is the drop shot? I think it gives great control of your bait. It's pretty easy to cast and fish.

Kroppe,
No it wasn't me. I've been slaving over this computer grinding out term papers. Thursday morning I will take my last final for the semester. After that, fish beware!:D
