Went again today, but Hit a lake in Barry county this time and iced 15 gills, 4 specs and one perch (I always seem to get one perch, why can't it be more?) I wouldn't say fishing was hot, but it defintily looks to be improving. Think I will try a lake in Kent County Sunday and see if my luck holds.
Fish were in 22 FOW on the bottom. spikes where the meal of the day tho I did offer minnows every once in ahwile.

Anyone else getting out here in West Mi?

Hey, I've been doing a bit of Speck fishing in the evenings on a couple different northern Kent County lakes...The fishing was pretty slow throughouth the month of January, but lately things seem to be picking up a bit. My buddy was out a couple nights ago and got about 20. Hopefully, the fishing will continue to get better...

I made it out to lake Mac this afternoon for three hours and got only two perch. Everybody I spoke to said that it was slow. I am planning to head to the Yankee Springs area on Monday afternoon to see if some of the old spots from the last few years are giving up any fish.

Fished hess on friday evening got 10 specs including one nice 12 incher in about 4 hours..good time lot of slush on the ice and it is a long way from the access point to where we were fishing so I suggest a polaris...:)

Hey Spartan, were you in the hole out in the middle of Hess by the shanties? That's where I normally go up there. Fortunately, I've got some family up there so I don't have to walk all the way from the access.

Fished Miner Lake for a few hours on Fri afternoon --no luck.
A couple of guys that where out before us had 6 or so nice gills on the ice when we arrived, but nuthin' was caught since.
One guy had an an Aqua View and was seeing fish, but they weren't hungry i guess.

yes Sid I was in the middle hole near the shanties. I have a Frabill Hide out and will be on a red polaris if you see me come over, will probably be there again this next weekend.

Hey guys i am new to south west michigan i go to college and love to fish all year around. If anyboody has any suggestions on what lake to go to it would be greatly appreciated.
