Going to try Mueskegon Lake where two years ago we caught over 16 fish in 2 hours with all at least 9lbs. All I can tell you is TROLL with BIG baits. Was a blast. See you out there.

Muskegon Lake is about 4100-acres and full of forage that was not historically present or in the mass that is present today. There are alewife, sheephead, carp, gizzard shad, and suckers for starters. The zebra mussels have cleared the water and the sheepshead population has exploded (they can feed on the zebra mussels).

Actually, we should bring back the native species including the Great Lakes Spotted Muskelunge to ballance the populations of the under utilized forge that the northerns aren't touching. The healthiest lakes are those with the top predator in place, but in the case of the musky it would have to be CPR = Catch-Photo-Release.

There is a long and complicated history on Muskegon and White Lakes that involve the EPA, Areas-of-Concern, and Remedial Action Plans. Reintroduction of native species is one ultimate goal of the programs. There are massive cleanup efforts of pollution and habitat degragation in progress.

The native musky reintroduction program does not need to wait for total clean up, but can start as soon as the governor frees up the $1.8 M promised last year for the coolwater hatchery addition to the Wolf Lake Hatchery. That money was to help Saginaw Bay and all of the state coolwater programs, but the money was mismanaged and dissappeared.
