My old scuba diving partner lost interest so we quit going about 10-years ago. As a serious fisherman I gained ALOT of insight on fish location, behavior, aquatic vegetation, bottom composition, etc. It was a blast to hand feed the fish and we found an incredible amount of tackle and equipment on the bottom.

I really enjoy diving but I have a dozen new interests, so am willing to sell or trade my gear now. My equipment has been stored properly and is in excellent shape.

2 tanks (71.2 cu ft each) still with air pressure
Scubapro B.C. (boyancy compensator)
Scubapro regulator
Air pressure guage
Depth guage
Compass
Wieght belt
Spear gun (for carp...20+ pounders are fun!)
Misc items (clips, goodie bag, communication slate, books, etc.)

I paid $1300.00 for this new and I am the original owner.
Asking $500.00 cash or trade for reliable snowmobile.

I'm asking $500.00 but will consider less. Make an offer.

Whens the last time you had the tanks pressure tested and would you consider any trades?

Yes I would consider a trade and/or cash. The two things I happen to be looking for right now are a reliable snowmobile for icefishing (doesnt have to be fancy or fast, just relaible) and also snowshoes for 225# person.

Regarding the pressure testing (hyrdo test), it has not been done since I quite using the equipment, over 10-years ago. The tanks have been stored with pressure so there is no chance that any air could get in and rust them.

I will stand behind this equipment 100%. If someone finds out that anything is not in good condition I will refund their money/trade. I am not a scammer. This is good stuff and I'm not worried about anyone being dissatisfied. I will put my "satisfaction garauntee" in writing, no problem.

So is this stuff comparable to the equipment you'd buy today if you bought new scuba gear? My cousin wants me to take lessons to get certified and I think I am gonna and might be interested...

Yes I'm sure it is comparable. Scuba requires only basic equipment such as tank, tank pressure guage, depth guage, regulator, bouyancy compensator, wieght belt (plus fins and mask which I'm not selling).

I dont know what the equipment market looks like today but it probably has only changed in the area of available gadgets and electronics.

I haven't looked at gear much lately either but I'm sure it's pretty much the same. I think they're using "dive computers" a lot more lately because the price of electronics have come down so much in recent years.

I'm sure youre right. The basic gear cant change much. I was certified through both NAUI and PADI, the classes are half the fun and calculating the residual nitrogen for repetitive dives was no problem. I imagine thats about all the dive computers would do for you. If youre a commercial diver that may be helpful, but for a recreational diver, totally unnecessary.

A set of Scuba Pro gear for under $500, that is a good deal.
I used to be an instructor and the service/technician manager at a very reputable dive shop in Royal Oak, the one on Woodward & 14. I have seen and serviced/overhauled hundreds and hundreds of tanks and regulators in my day. Still have visions in my sleep......
I still use my MK-7 and MK-X regs to this day. Scuba Pro makes bulletproof equipment as long as its maintained properly.

The cylinders should provide a lifetime of service if they have positive pressure inside of them (keeps ambient, moist air out thus preventing oxidation). You'll need a current hydrostatic and visual test for the tanks. In all the years I have been diving, since1979, I have not seen a tank fail a hydro test.

You may want to get the regulator looked at and serviced. It is, after all, life support equipment and failure at depth can be serious.

This sounds like a very good deal to me. Too bad I have a closet full or I might take a peek as well.

p.s. What make of speargun is it?

The spear gun is made by Aqua Craft. It is a small (24"?) 2-band unit. It was plenty good medicine for big ole' carp. Shot clean through most of them. The rubber bands seem to be cracking and should be replaced before use. No big deal. All the other rubber in the gear (hoses) are in perfect shape, by visual inspection.

No doubt, the first thing any buyer must do is take the equipment to a dive shop and have a qualified inspection. That is common sense and should go without saying. I dont know what they charge for safety inspections but it cant be much. As I mentioned in a previous post, if the inspection indicates any major faults then I will return the persons money if they wish. I am not worried about that in the least. In the worst case the regulator needs a re-build kit (wearing parts) and the tanks need hydro.
I wont pay for that. Thats standard maintenance.

By the way, the reputable dive shop you worked at in Royal Oak is exactly where I bought this gear!

I'll consider trades for outdoor gear, or maybe even a hunting land "lease" for quality whitetail (fair chase only, please).

Make an offer by PM and see where it leads :)

What style shoes are you lookin for?

Northcountry

I'm not looking for snow shoes anymore. Already been taken care of, but this board wont allow me to go in and edit my original post to remove the request for snow shoes. Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for the offer.

I've had a few offers of trade for my scuba gear but nothing I really need yet. If anyone else wants to offer something please PM me. Fishing, hunting, snowmobile, downriggers, guns, digital camera...stuff like that is what I'm looking for.

I'm still looking for $500 or equivalent trade. I see alot of downriggers and rods available. A set of those would work for me.

Still have the scuba equipment available. This is a great chance for someone to get into it without spending too much. Heck, if you have a decent trade item you wont spend anything!

Dont forget, you can find alot of lures and equipment down there, especially in popular areas. I've seen submerged timber that had so many lures snagged it looked like a Christmas tree!
