Oh man, I don't watch as much as I'd like. If I did, I'd be over 300 lbs ! :)
Emeril rules. But I also like "Good Eats" with Alton Brown. That's a great network.

Emeril Live! Yes indeed.
I really wanted to try the oyster pie he did the other day on his "southern breakfast" or brunch show.

Hey Sarge, all of the shows recipes are online and easy to find at that www.foodnetwork.com thingy :) Roker on the Road is a pretty good one too. Boy Meets Grill has some tastey fair as well!

.......and I am a Food network addict. :)
I have been trying not to watch it as much lately since I am on a diet (Which I started last August and lost 65lbs so far.....proud of that so I thought I would share ;) )
Being that my family is mostly from the south, Paula's Home Cooking is my kind of show. "Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding" might be the greatest dessert ever created.
BEWARE.......it is HIGHLY addictive.

Welcome Duck, you are amongst friends here! Congrats on the weight loss, I hope you never find it again! :) My secret is to take what I learn on the shows, cook some great chow, and feed others! They love it, I get to eat SOME of it, and its fun to make!!

I am sure that there are more than the 5 of us MS people that are willing to admit to being a FNA :) We shall see how many of them have the "courage" to admit their addiction as we have already done so ... :) Nice to see that I am not alone in my pursuit for the better food :)

I'll admit it, although I cook for a living and am in constant search for new recipes and ideas, I rarely watch cooking shows. I see food being cooked, and feel like I'm on the job. I rarely watch TV, but when I do its to relax, not see what I do when I'm working.
Having said that, I will say that I have watched Emirel and I really do enjoy his approach to cooking. He's not afraid to emphasise the strong spices and impart bold flavors, and He does a great job of both walking the viewer through recipes and giving background on techniques and ingredients.
Emirel's concept of "Kicking It Up a Notch" is something I adhere to.
But my favorite cooking show is Iron Chef. That show is just insane. Its like a sporting event/cooking show/bad japanese theater. My favorite episode is when carp was the featured ingredient. This table rises up in the middle of Kitchen Stadium with about 600lbs of live floppin' carp. There was a hillarious scene of one little Chinese guy trying to cold cock a sink full of carp with a meat mallet. Too funny.
The Octopus Battle had its moments too. The best was when a tenticle pushed off the lid on a 30qt. stock pot, and some dude started beating it back with a wooden spoon. I guess they just dump live octopus into boiling water over there.

It is one of my favorite networks to watch. My mom is suppose to be on food finds on the 17th. They are doing a show on North Texas and she was contacted about her bakery. She specializes in cheesecakes and brownies. I like one of her brownies and most of her cheesecakes. So watch Foodfinds on the Feb 17th. I am pretty sure my Dad and sister are also going to be on the show.

Howdy-
It's always on at some point during the day/night....I, too, am fond of Alton Brown's 'Good Eats' program.
All-time favorite was one called 'Too Hot Tamles', hosted by a couple of ladies who own a Mexican eatery in the LA area....

In all truth, Emeril is the only one I've watched enough to actually have a complete opinion on.
being a 340lb'er and diabetic, it is not wisdom to sit in my living room and observe great food being prepared and eaten. :(
For that reason, I don't seek out the food network. I am very weak though, and everytime I pass it during a "channel surf" I stop. If its Emeril I stay, there are some others that I'll watch but not automatically like him. :p
BAM!! I just pictured some of his food in my head. DRAT! now I have to go find something to ease the savage beast inside. :D

YPSI is right, Iron Chef is insane!! Thats how I found out about Food Network: while in Indiana for a wedding it was on and Iron Chef was just starting. Have been addicted ever since but went through withdrawals for 2 years as it was not available in my area :( :( Another cool episode was when they used squid. One of the guys made an ice cream out of the ink!
