A bunch of us are planning on heading up for our first trip of the year. How are the ice conditions, have have a polaris sportsman 6x6, will I have any trouble. Going after perch, always do well by the sunken island. Any reports would be appreciated.

Ice conditions are about 6-7 inches everywhere and more in certain spots, so ice is not a problem, the problem is slush and yes you will have problems with your polaris if you get off the beaten path. Snowmobiles are working better. There have been a few more people fishing out by the sunken island(north end) so hopefully they have laid some tracks for you. Good luck!

Anyone have any new updates about how things are going in smeltville?

A buddy fished for two hours two nights ago and caught 62... All big females. They are apparently deciding it's time to bite.

Good to hear, as I'm planning on heading up that way next weekend.
