As I posted a couple weeks ago, there is about 15 - 20 of us staying at Morris's Northernaire Resort this weekend. If anybody is interested in tapping holes with us, I'll have my ears on channel 7. Maybe we can get a little networking going to figure out what's biting and where!!!

I will be fishing Houghton Lake Saturday with 3 guys from work. None of us have ever fished there before and I don't know what are plans are yet. I dont even know what fish we are targeting. I assume we will have tip-ups for pike and sit in the shanty for pan fish like perch? If you have any fishing info I would be interested! I was thinking of starting a new thread asking for Houghton Lake help. I'll be on channel 7. Thanks

TailFndr, great suggestion, I assume Lymans is a bait and tackle store? I would also assume there might be a website giving fishing info?

Dunlap, there are a couple of links on a Houghton LK post a few pages back that helped me out. Please post after your trip because I plan on heading up there the week of 2-16 w/ my dad but I heard travel on the lake was very tough even w/ a four- wheeler. Good luck!!!

We have been up the last two years on the same weekend. We have always got onto the lake at Morris's (NW side of lake) and went SW to a couple of shanties about a half mile out. Never caught any limits but the bite was steady. Last two years- Five Walleyes & close to 100 perch between 5 guys. I'll be listening for you guys. Leaving early tomorrow morning. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the info everyone! The cut river area sounds good? I'll just buy every kind of bait, bring all my tackle and of course enough beer/snacks for the day. :D

I'm heading up to HL sometime before noon on Friday (2/6) with the family. They want to try and get some miles on the snowmobiles before the weekend crazy's get there. I'm hoping to try to get out and do some icefishing on Saturday afternoon/evening. I'll have my radio on 7-0!
Dunlap, Not sure where your staying, here's some more info: Lyman's is on M-55 in HL, on the south side of HL west of the DNR boat ramp. If your going to fish the Cut River area and are staying on the north, northeast side theres another place for bait & tackle, Sportsman Resort. Here's Jeff's website: http://www.sportsmanresort.net/
Planing on taking the wife and daughter to the "Spikehorn" Friday PM for their fish dinner! I'll be the guy with the green/brown M-S.com hat on!

We were there weekend before last and it wasnt to bad on south end, quite a bit of snow but a lot of it had been packed down from the snowmobiles. I know they got more snow since. Dont know about the area around the Cut. I'd call Lyman's or Sportsmans Resort. They'd be your best bet for up to date info unless there's someone here on the M-S site from HL?

I crossed Houghton today on the sled. I stopped several times and walked around. It was all real firm, but there was a few places of slush, but not near the fishing areas. I crossed from the north shore to the Limberlost, then back. One area I steered clear of on the south west area because it had a couple pine trees, (usually a sign of open water) but on my return trip, there was a pickup truck parked right next to them. Must have been a couple large holes for a shanty that was moved.
