1. What size & what brand is the best for perch fishing?

2. I found a lot of line of different sizes in my basement. How long is this line good for. Could have been in the basement 2-4 years but package never opened.

I don't think it really matters does it? Those perch spreaders have got to rigged with 30lb test as it is and it doesn't seem to bother the fish.

When I'm fishing perch it's on Lk. Michigan and I use
6lb. fireline with a three way. From the three way I use
6lb. trilene leader material and
#6 tru turn hook and minnow.

For perch I use 6lb. I don't think I have as good of luck with perch rigs that are made of heavy line and flashy hardware. Put a short loop in the line, then feed it thru the eye of the hook and pass the hook thru the loop. Pull it tight and do it again about a foot up. I like to keep the bottom hook 12" or less off the bottom. I use the smallest bell sinker I can(depending on how big the waves are). Use a pole with a flexible tip so you can see light bites without the fish feeling it. Good fishing.

For Perch size fish, 6lb. is plenty, color ? - I prefer clear/blue Stren for all my fishing in warm water. Line "lifetime" ? - I f line has been stored out of weather extremes and not subjected to sunlight for any length of time, it will be good for more than several years, sunlight (UV rays) degrade line quality. Use the lightest weight necessary to maintain contact with the bottom, a light strike indicating rod is an excellent idea as mentioned in an earlier post also. Good Luck !!!

I haven't caugh perch so far this spring. Other guys are catching perch, but not me. Maybe I should switch to minnows.
