It's a little late for a report but Byron & I fished the heck out of Stoney Creek last Friday (4/13) and got NOTHING.
He started fishing about 11:30 and I showed up at about 1:30. We fished until 5:00 . We had two fishin' Buddy II's going and marked a number of fish but no takers. I hope to be able to get out on Sunday. I think the weather is supposed to be bad for a couple of days.
I'll report results if I get out.

Good luck out there folks.

You guys said u were markin fish, were u guys goin for 'eyes, cause me and my dad got some dandy walleyes out of stoney. There are huge bass in there, last year a 7 pounder was heard of bein tooken out of their and released. On the smaller lakes around stoney some monster fish are believed to be their cause of limited fishermen goin there. So anyways good luck guys!

Marble-eye,

I'm pretty sure we were marking carp up in the shallow water. Lots of them were rolling at the surface. Bass, pike and walleye seasons are all closed right now. Pike and walleye open on the 28th.

Best Regards,
Byron

Hello Byron,

Do you fish for walleye in stoney, there are some nice eyes, me and my father fish for them consistently. We still havent got a pattern down, but this comin season we will. Biggest eye pulled out of stoney was a 30 incher, nice dandy considerin stoneys walleyes arent that big. The way i find out if the lake hold a rapidly growin walleye population is the head size. If the walleyes head is big compared to tha rest of the body, its a slow grower, but if the body is big compared to the head, the walleye grow fast and big! Its just personal experience. I'm only 16 but i do alot of readin about walleye and really care about what i'm doin, fishin is a great resource all fishermen should take care of.
Tight lines,
Marble-eye:D

I will probably try for eyes next saturday at stoney. Marble-eye, where on the lake do you take most of the eyes? I heard down by the south damn slow trolling with body baits or crawler harnesses. I live only 2 miles from there but never tried real hard for eyes. I usually go out to the big lake or the river but when I have only a few hours to blow I will try stoney this year. Will report any success I may have.

Been fishing Stoney for years and the walleye fishing has been going downhill the past few years. Better off hitting the big lake for eyes.

Just a reply to the above statement, last year my and my father hooked up many, many eyes, even bass fishing with spinner baits! From what i heard is the DNR stocks Stoney with Eyes. We have gotten some dandy walleyes out of their our best a 31incher. If u hear anything about walleyes on stoney, just keep on postin!!! Thanks:D

I don't fish there much in the summer, but last year my wife and I took out the new trolling motor for a test drive and a guy tried to give me two nice eaters as we were heading in. Body baits/ up and down the creek bed. I can usual catch 1 big crappie with a Hotntot drift/casting in front of the beach, maybe 2 if I'm real lucky! That's why I don't fish there much in the summer:)

Looks like I need to try harder, huh? What does everyone use and what part of the lake?
