I was straight out, about a mile,, 90% of the fish came on minnows, dead or alive, didn't matter. I tried Kens' & beads but they just wouldn't take it. They'd take a wiggler if stuck it down there but it was just to hard to keep re-baiting. I heard "Houghton Laker" on the FRS radio, or at least someone looking for him it didn't sound like they were doing all that well. I think they were closer to Metro than Ginos though.

oh man, we must have been pretty close to each other then, we was straight out and did pretty well, was in that pack of mayem... most of ours came on swedish pimples tipped with minnows and big silver kens spoons also tipped with minnows, a couple came on waxworms and wigglers but most on minnows.. i have NEVER caught perch this darn big.. all but 4 of ours were 11" or better, the "small ones" were 9-10".... i will be back out tomorrow mornin early again, around 630 or so... we hit em the best the first hour of light then it slowed to a couple every 1/2 hour-45mins... dont have a radio so anyone who wants to hook up and make that long walk in the mornin let me know... THANKS Ed.... oh, we seen 1 walleye and 1 HUGE sumthing, guessin musky, it was an easy3-4' long and big...

JUMBOS, Walleyes and PIKE!! OH MY!!!
What a day! What a spot. Fished due South of the little city out there and they just kept blasting the minnows. Absolutely amazing! My best day ice fishing (so far?). ;)
The "Crocker Rd" DNR official said he had a record day with the most vehicles he has ever seen there before. Cars and trucks parked out on the ice out to the marina entrance.
I don't think there is anything left to say. But, now there is alot to do! My back is gonna hate me for this.

Now I am not being a jerk here....just wanna make a point...When you post a "Hot Spot" on the internet and the thread gets 5,000 views this is what you get...I even heard people at the Bait shop by Metro sayin "That Ed guy said they turned on at 1pm on that internet report..."
We went futher south and 2.5 miles out...Not much action there and moved to a "Ficious Spot" and did decent on Perch and Gills and Ficious's son even caught a nice crappie!!!:D

I'd venture to say that even WITHOUT the internet, LSC will get CRAZY when the jumbos are in and there's good ice. I personally don't think the internet has anything to do with it. IMHO.

You're right JP, there's not much difference between this years crowd and last years. Good ice brings big crowds. When I get out fishing again, I'll gladly post results and locations. With close to 500 sqare miles to fish on, the only way you're gonna be crowded is if you choose to be. I'd take the line about hearing about it in the bait shop with a grain of salt. Keep posting guys. This site was started with the ideal of people helping people, and has worked wonders for many.

Like I said I just mentioned that to make a point. A point that many people have seen and some choose to not believe. Ed's oringinal post had close to or over 5,000 views. We have 6,822 members ALOT of which are inactive or have left for various resons. The general public can type up our URL and read the posts and never register as a member. It's great to help our members but you have to realize EVERYONE, not just Our members can see this site. I have nothing against people sharing their hotspots with members. That is awesome and I share my info with anyone who PM's me and asks but I will not post it freely on the public portion of this site anymore and haven't for the past year or so...
Good Job Ed on sharing with the members and great job everyone slaying them Jumbos!
You're right, I could have fought the crowds at Gino's today and Filled my bucket with Jumbos...but then I would have missed out on some QUALITY time with my friends in a spot where we walked out 1.3 miles and saw no one else. Harry and I walked out another Mile almost to the huge "Mountain of Ice" on the Horizon, and never saw a sole. Sure My bucket was only full with about 18 Perch and a Bluegill, which I gave to Harry and his Son Alex, but there was Total Peace and quiet with no snowmobiles racing by, and no shanty town....and I'll take that peacefulness ANYDAY to see a sunrise like this with Friends!

And to arrive at the lakes shoreline after a successful trip and turn around and smile when there wasn't a sole in sight like this...

It's a big lake. I wouldn't worry about the pressure. There's been articles in the papers recently that see 1M readers. We are a drop in the bucket.

I'm not worried about it...not one bit like someone said it's a big lake full of fish...I just wanted to make some people think twice before they gave up their hotspot to all of Metro Detroit and I am sure I made a point to some and others think I am full of bull...Which is fine to each his own.
Now enough of this lets hear how everyone did and thank Ed for his generous info!!!!!:)

I know I have fished LSC for many years and if there are jumbos bitting somewhere ..no matter what there seems to be a crowd there...and I think that that is great!! what a time to meet some new people andhave a good time with a group of people with the same thing in mind...a little fun and to put a meal on the table!...I had a riot!! may not have done as good as some others but caught enough for a smile on my face and keep me comming back for more!! Thanks Ed and nice talking to the other members of this site!!! Hope to see you's out there Catching Jumbos again!!

Everyone can make thier own choice about what they want to post. It seems really crazy that reports would be discouraged.
A while back there was a guy asking about fishing for Salmon in the metro area. I posted that there is a small run in the Clinton river. One of the moderators actually deleted my post, saying the area would get too much pressure.
Isn't that what the site is for? Too help each other out. Or is it just to brag? I have a lot more respect for Ed's posts, which include location, then some others that are just a pictures of fish.

and some things need to be discussed only by PM's cause they can be ruined by crowds...Duh...what is your frickin deal? Of course you like this kinda crap being posted better. You don't have to do any work you just click on the internet and read/write down the info and GPS Coordinates and go fishing...UNFRICKINREAL.

Don,
PLEASE let us not turn this into another one of "those threads".

No reason to beat up on N-O he has a valid reason for not posting some areas. Some areas can't handle the fishing pressure or the parking . I also think he realizes that this area has 3 large lots metro/Geno's / Crocker. with lots of lake. its to late now, so enjoy the fishing! We'll all find a place to park and with luck some fish. I'm not the least upset by N-O opinion. He does have a valid point and we all have our own opinions.

most of the time if you chase yesterdays report of a so called "hotspot" you will end up working to get fish anyways. fish move. so do fisherman.

I agree with N-O too, Polarbear, I have been there and done that too many times to mention. AL

To be honest, posting on LSC is different than posting on trout streams but I would like to say this...
I am not sure why one certain member gets so mad when this issue comes up but never posts reports himself. He just goes from thread to thread posting his OPINION with each sentence containg a CAPITAL word to emphasize his opinion. We really dont care that much...
Get off your computer and go fishing....
Hey Ed....Thanks for the info.....
I think that is what this thread is about:rolleyes:

Yeah, I think it's great that Ed gave that info. I think it's safe to say that he feels secure enough with his fishing abilities that even if everyone and their brothers converge on the area, he's still gonna find a way to catch some, and probably a lot of the people chasing yesterdays reports like polar bear said, won't get nearly as many as Ed.
That said, I also understand where N.O. is coming from especially in respect to the smaller inland lakes, with limited parking and areas. To be honest, I'm not secure enough in my fishing abiliites to get to the point where if I find an excellent spot I would be ready to hand out the GPS coordinates to potentially thousands of people. Although I definitely hope to reach that level some day! :D

Mickey,
I don't fish 4 or 5 times a week like a lot of the members here. I fish when I feel like it. Lately I haven't fished as much as in the past because I've had things to do and when I have had time, I have just had other things that I've felt like doing. I fail to see why the amount of time I spend fishing has any bearing on the validity of my opinion.
As far as my posting goes. I'll say one thing, when I do actually get out and fish I rarely post a report. Do you want to know why ?
It's because of CRAP like this !
But that's MY choice. I just don't like it when someone decides that I don't have the right to post a location in my post. We've been all through that garbage and I'm not going to rehash it again. I thought that was the entire purpose of this site. To share our experiences in the outdoors ! If a particular person has an experience they want to share with others it's none of anybody else's business if they want to state where it took place.
I enjoy this site very much. But I'll tell you that when stuff like this keeps cropping up I really start to get tired of it. That is the direction I started to visualize this thread taking. That is ALL I was doing to try to stop it from deteriorating.
I know it's not nearly as much time as Steve and others put in but I've spent a LOT of time lately making up banners to promote this site. If this is the garbage I can look forward to, maybe it's not worth my time.
Maybe it's time for a break.

JPollman,
That's funny you say "when things like this pop up". When I was on the campfire the other night, you choose to bring up the issue again. So, be a man and let's talk where everyone can see it.
You have already stated you do not fish LSC...not sure why your opinion makes any bit of difference because again, you dont fish it. How do you know what goes on there? Just like you have no idea about trout fisherman as well.
Post away. Im not telling anyone not to post but to jump on Don for HIS opinion is the same "CRAP" you are talking about. You are the most opinionated member here, so if you can dish it out...than you must be willing to hear what others have to say.
As far as my posting goes. I'll say one thing, when I do actually get out and fish I rarely post a report. Do you want to know why ?
I dont remember you posting before this issue came up. I think we all know the reason. Its hypocritical really.
p.s. Thanks for not using your capital word in each sentence technique. It was growing tiresome.
Another fine thread gone to hell in a hand cart. Thanks guys.
