Hit the Kalamazoo for a few hours this morning, 1 fish right off the bat on a HUGE steelie sac tied in chartreuse. Getting pretty tough to fish from shore, no ice flowing but lots of shelf ice.
Wouldn't normally put up a report like this but they've been hard to come by lately so I thought I'd throw it up. If you plan on hitting the river anytime soon you best have a boat. If we ever get a mid-winter thaw it WILL be great fishing.

Where did you fish, Mitch? Is it possible to launch a boat on the Zoo? Any other hits?

Sorry guys, I didn't check out any launches, I'll do that next time I make it out and let you know. I bet it'd be pretty hairy launching, the snow is DEEP down there. I thought for sure we were screwed a few times breaking trail on the two track.
Severus,
I fished downstream of the high banks, kinda secret, I hope you understand. No other hits, I kinda expected a good day with the "balmy" 20 degree weather. Looks like a warm-up insight hopefully some of this ice lets loose.
Have you guys been out at all?

Sorry mitch, i haven't been out as of late. If we get a warm up next week i may be game for a little exploring. I would like to learn some of the smaller water in the area before the crowds of spring arrive.

No Mitch, haven't been out in a while. Looks like it will be a few weeks before I can find some water again. We are getting set to take a trip to Mexico! HeeeeeHaaaaa......ariba......ariba......ondalay... ...ondalay! (what ever that means)
Maybe I can bring some warm weather back so we don't stay in a deep freeze untill April!

That's more than enough info for me, Mitch. I know the general area pretty well. I didn't know if you were near the dam or Sausage, uhh, Saugatuck.

Well made it out this morning the launches are snowed in, shore ice pretty thick we carried the boat down and slid her in,
river was great trolled up stream because figured if we ran down would breakup too much shore ice to be able to fish back up we ended up with 3 hits landed 2, 1 dark colorful 6#male and 1 silver 10# hen 2 hits on gold/black hotn tot and other on a jeff gordon hot n tot definatly CAN'T launch with a trailer right now.will try to go down next weekend would be good if someone would plow the ramps out:D
