Fished St. Clair River today from Harsens Island to Marine City and back. The river was very dirty. Probably as a result, very few boat fisherman were out, and only a few caught anything. We got a 5 pound Coho and met another guy with 1 Coho. Water temp was about 43 degrees.
We had lots of excitement nonetheless: We managed to set the boat battery on fire (some bottom bouncers fell on the casing and started to ignite the battery case), and my buddy ruined a brand new spool of 20 pound mono by flipping the reel out of gear while straining to free a snag. The resulting bird's nest was so awesome I felt I had to take its picture.

Well the boat is ready for tommorrow. If it not raining or blowing in the morning will be out at sun up. Will report if anything is going on. If anyone else is out there, I will be in a green Tracker.

What a beautiful morning to be fishing. Fished by Lyle's marina, nothing. Came back to Anchor bay drive launch and drifted a little, nothing. Only drifted with crawlers, bait store was closed. Did more scouting than fishing. Saw about a dozen boats out. Two were trolling for salmon with downriggers. Saw one boat casting spoons along the walls. I think they caught a small pike and released it. Did'nt mark alot of fish, only a few here and there.
