just wonderin if anyone has ever fished lake hudson southeast of adrian in the wintertime through the ice. ive been out there a couple of times in the spring and summer and it was pretty good for pike with a few bonus muskie. just wonderin if anyone has had any luck and if so what's the best technique and depth. if anything ill prolly set up a tip up with a nice sucker at the end that usually comes to the pikes likin.

I have fished the lake quite a few times in the last few years. We set up in the bassins of the lake at night and use minnows. Depth finder of flasher very helpful. We catch alot of crappies but not much size. I also cought a 10 lb walleye there while crappie fishing there. But from what I understand I heard there arn't to many in there. I could be wrong. Hope this helps

Some of the guys on this site have luck there on crappie. I've never caught one there but usually fish for muskie...not that I catch those either! ;-)

I'm surprised that you have had any luck on pike there.....Hudson is a brooding lake that they shock and milk muskie from. When they shock up a pike it gets removed so the muskie have less competition or to prevent cross breeding. Because of that and the fact that muskie season is closed on the lake I would worry that you might be ticketed if you are fishing with a tip-up and a sucker for bait. You might have a hard time convincing the park officer that you were targeting pike and not muskie. Once you get a ticket, much like a speeding ticket or a red light that you object to, it would be hard to fight.

Maybe before I tried I would e-mail the DNR or call Wamplers Lake (they also cover Hudson) and ask them.

Good luck!

Tom

there getting crappie out there now but have to do some sorting for the big one'si think it's a sleeper lake for the walleye because no one targets them if you check dnr site for stocking info they have planted more then 1 million in there i'll let you know ore this summer i'm going to hit it big time no jet skis :D :D

I have fished it during open water season and have caught a few walleye here and there (3 to be exact) but all three were 5lbs or larger. The lake has a lot of perch and crappies but all of them are dinks. We have also caught a few bass, gills, and catfish but we rarely target them. It may not be the best fishing lake but it sure is peacefull. No speedboats, no jetskies, and no houses on the lake!

Hi Guys, Ive been guiding this lake for the last several years and fishing it since 1996. Never saw a Pike and dont believe there are any pike in the lake. You may have caught a more tiger marked Musky. Hudson is a Brood stock Lake and was built by the D.N.R. too raise Muskies for the Michigan Musky program. The lake was flooded in the late 70's and stocked with Northern Muskies, crappies walleyes, carp, bluegill ,catfish and largemouth bass. also perch. If there are any Pike in the lake they were illegally stocked by someone. Hudson has a very pressured population of Muskies and also they are very well fed making them tough to catch. They have seen every lure and bait there is but the over abundant forage base is why they are so tough to catch. LOTS of small crappie and perch gills and cats to eat. Probably lots of suckers now as well from guys letting thier bait go into the lake. I love the lack of watercraft and the no wake law. There should be at least one lake in every county with the same regulations. Kingfisher, to see some Hudsomn Muskies check this out., http://www.kingfisherguides.homestead.com/kingfisherguides.html there are about 30 Hudson fish there including the one on the first page (green water) enjoy

now that u mention it those pike did look a little odd. i could have swore they looked like pike but my buddy thought they might have been a cross between a pike and a musky. i wasnt exactly sure but they were sure fun to catch

Hi Guys, check out the two picture pages at my site . Http://www.kingfisherguides.homestead.com/kingfisherguides.html you can clearly see the difference between the two. Also at the launch area there in a sign there called know the Difference. This sign shows the number of little portals under the chin of each species. Hope tis helps. Kf
