The latest issue of an outdoor newspaper includes an interview with Mary Brown. Ms. Brown, a Sierra Club preservationist, is Jennie's recent appointment to the NRC. Below is a quote from her.

Brown said, "I am not a hunter but I'm not opposed to hunting. We have to manage (our resource) for hunting, but we have to manage them for other reasons, too. There may be areas that need to be closed to hunting for a period of time because of habitat issues. We have to look at the effect on other resources. For instance, what damage is being done to habitat when you drag a deer out of the woods?"

Its scares the hell out of me to think what will happen to our hunting and fishing opportunities if Jenny appoints a couple more persons of this ilk to the NRC.

Now there is a freaking habitat problem !

What the he!! is the matter with her - I bet she hasn't set foot in the woods - unless it was along side the road to go potty -

damn skippy we better watch out - this does not bode well for hunting - or hunters - or deer for that matter - you know they poop in the woods and this may be 'harmfull' to the habitat

dang...

ferg....

When I read about her saying that, my jaw hit the ground.

I am still dumbfounded.

This demonstrates precisely why politics should have no place in the NRC, or the management of our natural resources.

And people: Granholm has got to go.

Closed to hunting? Sounds a bit biased to me.
"Lets close area "X" to hunting but leave it open to Mountain biking, X-country skiing, hiking, ..."
I'm not against any of the above mentioned. I even do them. (not ski tho) It just sounds like she is already convinced that dragging a deer through the woods destroys habitat and hunters are to blame for any/all of habitat loss. Who comes up with this?! Urban sprawl and land fills full of Canadian garbage distroy more habitat than hunting ever has.
I'll bet she lives in a half million dollar house that, two years ago, WAS habitat!

This was in the January 23 edition of the Michigan Outdoor News in an interview she gave to editor Bill Parker.

This was not some off-the-wall remark, as this gal has been a legislator for 18 years.

She's a Sierra Club cronie and she knew damn well what she was saying.

Does this woman have an e-mail address or does the NRC? Talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth. Obviously she does'nt realize how ridiculous she sounds.

This makes me wonder what type of damage a falling squirrel does when it hits the ground ! Maybe we should lay a trampoline down first. What do you guy's think?

If she wants to stop habitat loss, she needs to look at the ATV/ORV crowd first!

Duh, we manage resources for hunting. You know, we sportsmen worked and got Prop G but I don't think anyone thought beyond Engler who was in our pocket.

that TED NUGENT was a bad choice for us in government??

I dare say that Ted would get MY vote for ANY public office that concerned hunting and our "Natural Recourses" !

It's people like this Ms. Brown that just scares the livin' begebies outta me when they find their way into the part of life that I cherish!!

This is just what we DON'T need,... another tree huggin' skirt who wants to save some moss or ferns from drag-out damage!

Talk about out of touch with reality! I am going to contact Rep. Mike Prusi and have him watch this guy.
Yea, you never know. You might drag your deer over a spotted owls nest, or maybe might wipe out a few of them green frogs too. I heard them frogs taste like wolf too!

7MM Magnum, She maynot be in the system yet. See http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57926#newpost

Try using the * after the first name. That's why I asked for a middle name.
