wristband fish finder

Anyone use the wristband fish finder that you put on the end of your fishing line? And has anyone tried it during ice fishing?

Well I found out about that hummingbird fish finder. First of all it has to wide of an angle and in doing so the single would bounce off the sides of the ice and make it not read right. But I did find on at Cabals for about 90 bucks. This thing is about the size of a cell phone and has a long cord with the sensor at the end. It even takes the water temp. I went out and gave it a try today and loved it. It’s nice just knowing that there are fish in the area. This fish finder was the Hawk Eye FF3300PX in my mine it was a good deal. By the way it runs off 4 AA’s

I just went back out again today and used it. On thing that I found that I don't like is that it has a cord thats like 20' long.

Actually, they show icefishing as one of the applications for this unit...

If you click the link that says "No boat required" it shows it as usable for icefishing. It looks to me like you can lower the transducer down far enough that it won't reflect off the ice. I'm tempted to try it, for the price... I don't think the $300 - plus for a Vexilar is in my budget for this winter...

Yep that’s the one I have but like I said before it’s the 35-foot cable that’s the bummer for ice fishing. It would be nice if they sold a shorter one…say 6 feet. They screw on the top of the unit. One other thing it’s also has is an alarm when it detects fish so I can set it up on one pole and I’m fishing with the other. When I hear the alarm go off I go over and work that pole.

There's a 10 foot cable to replace the 35-footer. The bad news is that it costs $29.99. Might be easier just to wrap something around the 35-footer.

Yep that’s what you want but you do have to remember it dose have the sending unit on the end and I’m sure that’s were all the cost comes from. I’m temped to buy it…well see in a few days.

went to cabelas saturday night and got a Hawleye.

Sunday went out found the dropoff with it then moved alittle and cut hole and gave me the depth and was marking fish, I'm in heaven. set it down setup the shantys and drills the holes turn it back on and nothing with the cord sitting on the ground. grab cord and standup and it starts working and that is the only way it would work no matter what i did. So back to cabelas today to get it replaced, Has to be a bad cable. we did manage to catch some perch dinks in the process.

any problems with your cable yet? taking mine back today and getting a new one, the cable is acting like it is bad.

This was posted on an informational site about them. Could have been your problem.

(NOTE: Below 20 degrees F ambient air temperature, the sonar components in the sensor head will not pulse, preventing the unit from providing depth information. The solution is to keep the sensor head warm until it is placed in the water.)

i saw a review of the wristband wireless fishfinder, and it said that it would only work when it wants to, and that they didn't feel confidence in anything that it read. I would stay away from them as of yet.

sorry was talking anout the Hawkeye handheld fish finder.

worked greaat for a half hour then just stopped. then if i held the cable just so it would start reading. when it worked it was doing what i need which is marking fish and sounding its alarm. used it last sunday and it was very cold so That might just be what was wrong.

I keep my unit in my coat and the end in my pocket. I try and keep it as warm as I can until I use it. To answer your question no I haven’t had any problems.
