View Full Version : How do weather fronts effect winter fish

I'm fishing this weekend for walleye and perch and was wondering if the impending cold front will effect the fishing.

Do barametric pressure changes turn the fish on and off under a foot of ice? Does a cold snap shut them down? Should I go to lighter line, smaller baits, etc...Maybe a remedial question but.....

Barometer majorly affects the fishing, the lower or falling the better. The hours before the storm are always the best.

I agree with stump jumper. Weather fronts play a huge roll in fishing. I dont think the thickness of the ice matters. Have fun looking for the Walleye-Buzz;)
