Dont' know but two weeks ago I called the DNR and they said as soon as the ice was safe enough to walk on. Not sure what the DNR's definition of safe ice is but I would think it'd be open now or soon.
If you go by there let us know what up-

I went out there after work this morning to see if the gate was open yet and it was. The ice looks good, did not check it but there was a permanent shanty out there and lots of holes drilled but no one on the lake this morning. I will be out there this weekend for sure.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll see you out there. Not sure when but hopefully I'll be out there this weekend also.

I've been out there twice this past week and I was skunked both times. I fished the 13' hole to the south of the launch one night and only marked two fish. The next time out I fished the 25' hole to the north of the launch and had a couple hits and that was it. I kept marking a few small fish on the bottom but they weren't interested in biting. Probably little bait-stealer perch.

I am just interested in catching some pike on tip ups. I haven't fished it in years but was going to give another try this weekend. Is there anything I should know before hand about pike fishing this lake again??? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. I think I will be out there friday afternoon but don't know about Sat. Might be going to the Sag. river in chase of some walleyes.

Most of the guys I see fishing for pike are doing it in the shallow area between the causeway and the road. It's around four to five feet deep in that area. Other than that I can't really say about the main part of the lake.

I talked with one old man out there last year at the end of the season trying to get his permanent shanty loose from the ice. He was out there spearing pike and said things were a little slow. He was set up by the little dam to the north (after you go around the point from the launch). Another place I've seen tip-up's set up is between the island and the main land where the two come together at the closest point. There is a pretty deep river channel that runs through there. You can drill one hole and your in 3 FOW, move 20 feet and your in 20 feet of water. If you find where the channel starts dropping down (5' to 8' FOW) you might do well there. I've caught a few pike during the summer while bass fishin'.
Good Luck! Post a report if you go.
