Remember that anything that ends with "com" is company out to make business.

Do not respond to every email you receive. Investigate it first.
If you are going to use the internet you should know how to use a computer.
Did you forget how to use DOS? Maybe it could help you.

I'm not sure I understand your post -
First off, I have a couple of '.com' url's that are NOT to make money - nothing could be farther from the truth -
second what email are you refering to ???? I found this information researching handgun registration in Michigan.
third - I have been using computers sense the days of punch cards and 5 ft reels of two inch mag tape, and 5 level baud chadless punch ticker tapes -
I certainly don't understand your DOS comment - at all - what the heII does it have to do with anything ? -
:confused: :confused: :confused:

I apologize for the response. I had so many help request for computer help that day that I decided to imbibe a little too much and was ready to release the frustrations on anybody and anything. I even kicked the cat. I got in trouble for that too. I’m not a computer person; I am a chemistry laboratory research technologist.
“First off, I have a couple of '.com' url's that are NOT to make money - nothing could be farther from the truth - “
Usually ‘.com’ indicates commercial for companies. The ‘.com’ extensions usually try to sell stuff.
“second what email are you referring to ???? I found this information researching handgun registration in Michigan.”
I made the assumption that you received an email for this petition on line site. So many people automatically forward hoax emails, I assumed that this was one of those forwarded things.
third - I have been using computers sense the days of punch cards and 5 ft reels of two inch mag tape, and 5 level baud chadless punch ticker tapes –
Here I must bow to you, 5 ft. reels of mag tape, I have never heard of that. I have used big reels for backup tape and then had to copy the data to videocassette size tape. There is data that is still being brought up by that old system.
I certainly don't understand your DOS comment - at all - what the heII does it have to do with anything ? –
At work we try to save money, doing this for so many years with some pieces of equipment require that the operator understand and know how to use DOS. There are two people in my group that can read or program using DOS, one is a manager and then there is me. All the people that work with the equipment do not know about DOS. If it is not a store bought, ready to run program that tells them what to do they are at a loss. I have written short scripts so all they need to do is press a menu key and they ask which key to press. These are people that have bachelor’s degrees in chemistry or biology. Shouldn’t basic DOS be taught in school? I failed DOS computer programming in college, I have been the system manager of three different chromatography systems with the job I have and created a data recording system that is now used by many corporations.
Lastly, I apologize for my comments. I hope I have not insulted you to where we cannot be friends on the water, email or Michigan-sportsman.com.

I signed.....#347.
Labrat - I just didn't understand how any of it fit in - anyway - no big deal - I was just wanting understand -
the DOS scripts are effective for the unlearned - but when you speak of saving $$ your right - most compainies dont even have machines that that will still run DOS, while being DOS based - the windows community has 'dummied up' their machines so the average user hasn't a clue about DOS - I would venture a guess that if you asked the average person on the street what DOS was you'd get some pretty funny answers LOL -

I started on DOS @ v1.25 :eek:

I have signed some petitions on this sight in the past but I always wonder if they ever get to anyone that should be reading them or if they just sit out there and collect dust on the web. I have started writing directly to those that should hear my voice and seem to get a good response.
Anyone know when or if these petitions are handed over to those they are aimed at???

Sorry to inform you but .com stands for community.

Bow Hunter Brandon,
My sense of the petition online site is similar to yours, that as you said the petitions just sit there and gather dust.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that site always appeared to me to be just a "feel good" site that provides people an opportunity to voice their conviction or opinions to the world at large.

Petition signer #350 :D ,... so how many members do we have on this site?? That number should be MUCH higher!
For those of you who haven't been there yet this is a copy of what you would be signing for on the petition:
I ask that you repeal Michigan's handgun registration law . It is unconstitutional and doesn't stop gun crime . Criminal's don't register their guns , only honest citizens do , the ones that aren't going to commit crimes . The only purpose gun registration has is to make it easier for an oppressive government to confiscate firearms .
Sincerely,
I think EVERYONE here should get involved with this,.. WHY should honest, law abiding citizens have to go through this registration process at all,... just so the government KNOWS who among us own handguns that's why !!!:mad:

Come on guys.... we don't have gun registration in Michigan, we have safety inspections..........at least that is what they told me when i took my .40 to the police dept and said it needed to be registered. ;)

Yea RIGHT,... why do they need a "Safety Inspection" on a brand NEW still in the box handgun??? :mad: All they do is record information from the weapon and WHO it belongs to with a copy of your personal ID and current ADDRESS. :rolleyes:
There isn't ANY type of "SAFETY" inspection made to the weapon at all. No one checks the operation of it, or disassembles it to be sure that there isn't any worn or broken parts in there to hurt someone. I have gone through this a plethora of times and each time makes me madder than the last. :mad: :mad: :mad:

I know 7mm, i agree with you..... it is a registration under the guise of a safety inspection. I agree, pointless.

You are incorrect. ".com" is comercial.
The United States Postal Service was ".gov" for a period of time and became ".com" when somebody noted that the USPS is not a government organization, it is only protected by the government. The USPS is supposed to make money.
.COM = Commercial
.EDU = Educational
.ORG = Organization
.GOV = Government
