Higgins and St Helen Lake

Reports anyone, planning on heading up for the first time this year with some friends, looking to get out on both Lakes any helpful information would be greatly appreciated > locations, bait, etc..

Just started fishing those Lakes last year so I must admit that I am a newbie...thanks again

just spent the weekend chasing fish on st.helen. the fish had lock jaw. If you go to st. helen I would go to the third lake hole. If you go to the east side of the hole and find the edge thats a good spot for crappie and walleye . to find the edge looking east get in line with the group of birch trees ,facing south[shore] about 8 or 9 houses from the cannel is a two story house with a big round top window .Start there you shouldnt be disappointed. Fished the third lake past weekend. Caught micro gills and small pike and walleye all day long, nailed the crappie at dusk they stayed on the bite for about an hour after dark. Same story both days. Fished in 10ft of water, could see the crappie in the shanty during the day but not interested, walked about 20 yards farther and the water was 20 (caught only small perch here). No takers on the tip-ups. Are there any bigger pike or walleye in the other lakes. Usually fish the 3rd one because of success for crappies

we parked by the public launch and walked out. Someone marked a spot out where we were at with an old christmas tree sticking out of the ice. We were about 200 yards west of that in a blue clam and a black viking. This tree marked right where the water starts to drop off.

St. Helen
Look for the crappie in about 15-18fow right when the sun goes down they bite pretty good.

The public launch on Lake St. Helen is on the first lake, not the third lake.......FYI
