for you guys who dont want to spend money on a scaler or dont like to scale fish using a knife, i got the answer to that, put a bolt tap in a electric drill and you can clean fish like crazy, i use any size between a 1/4 and 3/4. works great on perch with those tiny scales, the smaller the scales the smaller the tap, bigger scales bigger tap :) happy scaling

Got my attention. What IS a bolt tap? I tried a google search and didn't come up with anything. Are they known by another name? Thanks.

It's just a standard bolt tap, for putting threads in a hole.
You can buy them at any hardware store.

Scaling them slightly frozen with a spoon has always worked well for me. They don't fly, and they come off very easy. Just my two cents, obviously a power gadget would be quicker.
