Fished Newburgh for an hour and a half in the afternoon. Made about 7 or 8 holes over a pretty vast area and never marked a fish. Used my new Vexilar FL8 for the first time. It seems like that lake has gone downhill for panfish since 2000. The first 2 years of fishing out there since the draining, dredging, and restock (1997, I think) were excellent for good size gills. Maybe they are just tougher to find now...
Then went to a 3 acre pond in Plymouth. Made about 10 holes on the east side of it with very few marked and caught. Then made 5-6 holes on the west side and the Vex lit up like a Xmas tree. Got a limit of 7 to 8 1/2 inch gills in an hour in 10 feet of water. Also took 6 largemouth between 10 and 16". I guess even in a small pond you have to find the fish because they might be concentrated in a small area...:)
