The water in the bay is still to stained. your jig went poof 4" under.

Two hr. drive / Can. license I gave it a go. 1 perch 11" for 2 hrs. fishing. like I said the water needs to clear up. I hope by next week end or ???

For anyone who is heading out. The ice is 8 inch almost every where up to the grass island (inside the bay) or close to 1.5 miles out. After that there is a band of ice, beyond that looks like it has snow on it. The ice is only 1" thick at that point. 4x4's use caution. This will change but I saw several air boat's go throug and one had a heck of a time getting out.

By the way when I was out at 0630 hrs. the temp. was -6 and no wind. No fish but wat a great day. I love the cold. (((until March))) Ya know it's cold when. -- I just got out punched a hole fisrt light and sat (outside of shanty) took hat off to cool off from the walk. the first thing I noticed was my fishing line was like dipping a wax candle. second thing was, where I was breating caused frost on my my coat - like a freezer- 3 rd I felt my head and WoW hair was an ice chunk. That's all in top 10 min's . I walked another 1/2 mile set up shanty and the old mustache had so much ice in it --- it couldn't be pulled out . that's a first for me. Due to no wind the whole time out I did not get close to cold.

The only other thing I noticed was at 0430hrs. driving into Det. All the steam form the smokestacks looked like they were frozen straight up, reaching - what looked like the clouds. COOL

Hey Ed , thanks for the report. I was on lake couchiching over north of Simcoe. It was -20 on friday morning, and just when you would think it can't get any colder, Saturday was a balmy -26. that is the coldest I have ever been out in. My eyelids were frezzing . Thats nuts. We did get our limits though. Real nice perch. I even had late starts due to having to put my quad in the trailer with heat , and then jump started off my truck. No wind though at least.
