Do little ponds like an acre or so do well for ice fishing?

as long as they don't freeze solid to the bottom and there is sufficient oxygen for the fish to survive. The thing is oftentimes the fish in such ponds do not taste very good, or are grub-ridden.
still a heck of a lot of fun though.

Oh I see.....
I thought you were gonna tell me about some places where the fish talk to you. :D

I've taken many a one pound gill in small ponds. A lot of private ponds are great fishing and most owners will allow you to fish them if you ask permission. Some owners will even ask you to harvest some gills on some of the slightly bigger ponds to thin the population a little bit. Then again there are also quite a few ponds that have loads of 3-4 inch gills and are a waste of time. That why a good Q@A with the owner is important when visiting a pond for the first time. I hope this helps!!!

Ditto on the pounders Conner...gotta love those days...and sometimes the owners are moving and don't care if you put a dent in the population....oh darn.
but seriously lawnboy, if it has ice, and you can drill a hole and not come up with mud, you owe it to yourself and the fish gods to wet a line.

Well the ones that I have in mind have bass and are a good 6-8 feet deep, from what I know they have ice right now.

I have permission to fish this little one by my house but only for catch and release. The owner stocked it with hybred gills some 10 years ago. I've caught gills out there up to 11 almost 12 inches, up to 2 lbs. Real fun on a noodle rod and 2 lb test.
You can find some good ones but lilke they said some of them tend to be grubby.
