I am just wondering how many of you have noticed an increase of poaching in recent years. I am surprised at the number of headless/hornless animals I see along the roadside near state land. It wouldn't seem odd except the all seem to be next or close to a bait pile. I may not be an expert but I am aware of no hunter that sets up a bait pile just several feet from the road and no cover in site. Being an avid outdoors person hunt fish etc..... this bugs me to see all the activity that is occuring right under our noises. With all money put into the licenses I am sure that the D.N.R. could invest a little more interest into these matters. Ok, sorry to be a cryin baby on my first visit to the boards but had to get it out. Thanks for your time and I'll see you all around the boards.

Lawnguy I'll have to agree with you . I was up late bow season. 31 and Jan 1st. I heard shots every night towards dusk. No late gun season there.
I feel that the paoching problem has increased due to the fact That everyone is used to getting 3,4,5 or 6 deer a year. In the old days if you had more than one or two deer in the freez, you would be concidered a big time poacher, and there was a chance someone might call on the person.
It's almost turning out that a person feels its his right to take a deer during the season when ever he/she wants license or not. When it should be a privilege to obey the law, enjoy the hunt and only put enough Venison in the freez that one can consume.
I think with such liberal limits on deer. Poaching will only get more common place.

Welcome to the site, glad you found us.
I personally haven't seen any evidence of poaching. boehr, a CO that posts here, mentioned on another thread that many hunters dumped their deer this year because they believed the meat went bad in the warm temps.

Welcome to the site lawnguy.
The DNR does catch people poaching on a regular basis. Call the rap line and give them specifics I'm sure they will respond.
Check out the below link on some of the things they do. This is only a fraction of the game law violations.

Lawnguy, welcome aboard.
By all means if you are observing what appears to be poaching ,report it.
