Ok today is the last day of bow season. I'm looking for a new replacement for my Golden Eagle Formula 3D compound. This bow is 11 years old and just too heavy to be carrying back into the long treks I make anymore. Bows today are about half the weight of them old bows. Does anybody shoot the Golden Eagle Mossy Oak 32 or the Pse Firestorm Lite and have any comments or complaints on these. These are the 2 that I'm going to look at this weekend and just trying to get some preliminary info berfore hand. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks BAYDOG

I can't help you with those bow models but one thing I would do is fling some arrows through them. Then pick up some different bows and try them. A guy I know spent $700+ on a bow and he hates it.
Good luck!

i agree shoot them first to see if you like them, those short axel bows are less forgiven and harder to shoot than your old golden eagle.all though i like the p.s.e :)

First thing is dont be in a hurry to buy unless you buy a new bow every year or have a hunting trip coming up soon.
Second I would shoot as many bows as you can, even shooting the more expensive ones as a comparison. Shoot cheap ones and ones in the middle price range. This way you have a good idea of what you like.
Also when you shoot stand close to the back stop (5-6ft away) and draw your bow, pick your spot and then close your eyes. Before firing think of how the bow feels in your hands while drawn. Then release with your eyes closed and do it a few times. This will give a real good idea of how it feels when fired and how noisy it is. Most bows can be quited down alot but some are loud no matter what.It should be farely quite with out being set up.
I would suggest going to a pro shop (go to a few different ones too) as you will get better service and knowledge. They may have some used bows to try too.
When I did this I ended up with a Hoyt Mt sport (afetr 4 months of trying them out). It came down to a Darton and this bow for me. I couldnt tell much difference between these bows and the higher end Hoyt and MAthews. The Darton I shot very accurate and I almost bought it. I was hitting nocks at 10 yards with no sights. :) But it came down to feel and the hoyt just felt better to me. It wasnt as short either since Im tall this is good. But its still a short bow which is nice if you hunt on the ground. I can sit in alot of differnet positions and have no problems shooting it. I shoot it with out a stabilizer and this makes it even lighter. I have tried a few kinds but they make me shoot worse. I can group broad heads in 5" circle out to 50 yards so I dont think I need it.
I switched from an old pro line that was about 18 years old or so. My accurecy improved right off the bat and also I have one pin now out to 25 yards (the pro line I had a pin for 10, 20 and 15 was even a lot differnt. that bow had arc to it.). So if your going to get a bow and keep it along time dont be in a hurry and try out alot of different kinds.
Have fun! ;)
