I was fortunate enough to be around some ice this x-mas break in the Northwestern Upper Peninsula and went out ice fishing three days. I fished Pike Bay & Portage Lake. The first day I caught a 28" walleye on a orange/silver swedish pimple tipped with a waxie in about 10' of water. The second day I got skunked. My uncle's friend put his shanty out on the third day so I fished a different spot. I am happy to say I caught my first northern ever on the same lure but with a minnow on it in 15.5' of water. It was around 24" All in all, I had a great time out there, but am bummed about the warmup we have had downstate here this last week. Who knows, this may be one of the few (if only) times I will be able to ice fish this year. The ice ranged from 4" to 10" over the spots I tried.
