Isn't there ice covering the lake right now, or has the warm weather melted it?

I've seen skim ice out there as well, and broke ice to the launch already this year. FFB the night bite has been slow to non existant for me at least out there this year. I've been wanting to try for walleye/pike during the day, maybe this weekend. I've been targeting the east end shoreline in 2-25 fow, off second st, spx, strawberry trolling, casting various colored rapalas f13, hj10,12, rogues, even deep hj12s with some bumps, but none landed in 3 times out.
What size/color/speeds/depths have been working for you? Any big ones?

How big have the pike running out of Muskegon? I am thinking of hitting either Muskegon or White lake thursday morning.

First off thanks fishforbrains for the pike tips, that was a blast. Sixshooter and I launched and did icebreaking duties from the launch. We tried a bit for eyes before first light without a bump, but caught this nice sunrise welcome to the new year.

We landed maybe 8 pike trolling the open water with deep cranks behind boards all released except 2 smaller ones. Nothing real huge, but a blast, and a great way to welcome the new year. Even had a jumping steelie on for a little while.:) Quite a few boats out today.
The 2 I kept I left in the livewell and were sucessfully released in my buddies pond. He says he can't catch a big pike, so he's going to grow one.:D LOL
Here's some pictures from the ones we released to grow.

We did the ice breaking on White lake, but had no results to show for it. I would guess if the weather is right they will be ice fishing out there in 10 days or so as long as we don't get a lot of snow. Not very often though you are still launching boats in the lakes on New Years day though.
