Houghton Lake: 1/3 or 1/4

I'm tired of waiting for ice down here so weather permitting is anyone planning on hitting Houghton next weekend?

I'm thinkin about going up....my co worker live by there...he says theres 4-6 inches on alot of the smaller lakes around the area.

Shouldnt be much trouble finding a hotel!!!

Was wondering Greeneman where you are from, if you don't mind telling. I am pretty sure I seen you and or talked to you over radios up at Chemung last year...let me know the prices of the hotels if you go up to Houghton Lake. Never fished up there before, and would like to take a couple days off and go up there and go do some ice fishing...

ice at the cut is 5-6", just got back last night....they're fishing real close to shore, no one out very far over there yet...fishing was a little slow, lots of undersized pike....

That sounds like story of the season so far on Houghton. Probably all the weather changes weve been having. Its gotta turn sooner or later. I'm gonna try and make it up again this weekend. Ill have to play it by ear. Ill most likely be ther one day this weekend though.

On the Cut River side you need to get out quite far to find deep water. The past few weeks you guys have been out on South shore, I've been walking down to the lake and seeing thin ice with water sitting on top. It looked ugly. Going up tommorrow, and hope to get out in the afernoon. It's been great football so far.

Just got back. Went off the East Bay DNR launch. Walked out about a mile & there was a good 7" everywhere. Not too many people out tonight, though. My friend & I landed 6 eyes with 2 big enough to keep.

Wind looks like its going to be blowing too much to fish on Saturday, I'm thinking sunday.

Roads are supposed to be nasty Sunday morninig. That makes for an awfully long drive.
