I have fished flethers many times during the open water season but only once during ice fishing. I was out this past weekened and had one small pike on a tip-up. I am manly fishing for pike, perch, and crappies. I was wandering what are some good locations around fletchers pond during the ice season. I dont have a flasher but do have a portable LCD(can't budget the flasher for right know). Also when I was fishing last weekened I had trouble setting the depth of the tip-up. I always thought you were supposed to put them a foot off bottom, but the pike I cought I only had the bait set two feet down the hole. Any advice would be greatly appreated. Chris

and have a very good amount of knowledge of the lake. the best place that i have found for BIG pike is near the north end of the lake, about 3/4 mile out in front of Killion's Landing. there are several creek beds that intersect in that area, and give up some dandy pike through the ice. another area is kinda hard to find, but i can give you the landmarks : looking out over the lake from killion's, to the left of their property is a point....line it up with the large point across the lake (11 o'clock) and there is an old railroad bed through there that is about 7' to 9' deep. this area will produce excellent perch and panfish along with pike. it's been a while since i have been there, but those areas have been working for alot of years. also, check in at jacks landing for the latest ice and fishing conditions.
BTW...Killion's Landing is the last campground on the East side of the lake heading North.
Good Luck....hope this helps.

I have fished there for many years also.
The general logic on the lake is to try to stay on or near the creekbed. It is getting harder and harder to do because it is becoming silted in. The old rail road bed is popular also.
But, having said that, I have caught fish all over on that lake. I have also been humbled by the fish gods more then once.
Stay mobile, keep moving if you aren't seeing fish or all you have in the hole are dinks.
Waxies and minnows for the pan fish.
5-6 inch suckers for pike if you want to see a lot of flags
8-12 inch if you want to get a bruiser. I also only fish about 3-4 feet under the ice.
I only put about 8 feet of line on my tipup. Any more then that and you'll be tied around a stump.
My feeling about Fletchers is the fish are either biting or they aren't. Not a lot of in between days
I don't think the Pike fishing is what it was 10-12 years ago there. Neither as many nor as big as in the past. The locals will disagree though.

Thanks for the replys. I'm going to try to head back up there this coming weekend. Do you have to pay a fee if you park at Killion's? .

You can park at the DNR launch site. Take Jacks Landing road from M-32 and fallow the signs.
Try straight out from the launch and a little to the left. Iv'e done pretty well out there.
Be careful, Fletchers ice fluctuates in thickness a lot in the early part of the season. It can go from 6" to 2" in just a few yards. Stay on other peoples tracks if you can.
Try a 5"perch on your tip up. Iv'e caught Jumbo perch,Bass, and Pike with these.
I am trying to get up this weekend also, If the wardon gives me parole that is.

Spent most of the day Saturday on the ice. It's is about 6" thick or so.
Caught about a million Blue gill under 5". Everywhere I went those dinks fallowed me. No flags on the tip up either. Water was real murky for what it usually is like at Fletchers, maybe that had something to do with the poor fishing. I talked to some locals and they said the fishing hadn't turned on there yet. None of my usual tricks seemed to work.
I didn't bring my snowmobile with me this trip so I could't move around too much. Stayed out in front of the boat launch area (within a mile or so).
Ice was about 6" thick but some guy had his Buick station wagon out on it the day before. Most have a Angel on his shoulder.

My group of about 15 girls including myself always take a trip to fletchers every year for the phenomenel ice fishing. we primarily use tip ups The fishing is awesome! We catch quite a few nice pike. I caught a 10 pounder last year, boy we really show up the fellas there when we start braggin at pikers cove! We have a ball. We wouldnt go anywhere else. Because the lake is a large flat, the pike are virtually everywhere. You dont have to search for them. we do great karaoke too at the bar!

Just got back from fletchers and we did ok. Fished to the left of jacks landing about a 1/4 mile out. Cought alot of dink blugills and the first day we had 3 flags catching three pike of 25,27,30. The next day we just fished in the morning with two flags one was a catfish and the other was a 25inch pike. Hope to get up there again in febuary.

the gentleman that owns killion's landing is a really nice guy. he shouldn't charge you to park, unless there have been alot of people that have parked without asking.
they, along with most other campgrounds, rent shanties as well. during the soft water, there are alot of crappie caught out in front of his place.... may be a spot to check.
