now that we are going into a new season for ice fishing i like some feed back on last years fishing.personally it was one of the least productive seasons for me.i know others will agree, what was the problem? any insight? will this year be better? some general conversation why we are waiting for the ice to set up.

for me it was probably the best fishing I ever had... big fish and alot of them.... not sure why but it was like I could do no wrong... hopefully this year will go half as good...

mainly lsc, thats where i do 90% of my fishing.seen alot of fish but they would just stare at the baits, all kinds of baits, the year before was awesome.

I also had poor luck on LSC but my other spots I done really well with size and numbers.

I ran hot and cold fishing LSC last winter! There were those days when the fish would just look at your bait. I wonder if it had anything to do with the clear water all winter? As far as my fishing I did better with slightly stained water or deeper water. Although, If my fishing turns out as bad as last year I'll be a happy man.

First ice on LSC was the best i have ever had, in size and numbers later things slowed down but was still a good year.

My usual haunts didn't produce, SQUAT!!!!!

LSC is a "rare" bird, I found out that you just can't walk out there with bucket of minnows and some waxies and expect to hammer the fish. When fishin' LSC you gotta be loaded for "BEAR"!! And expect to be movin' alot.

To be quite honest with ya,,, if it wasn't for this site,,, I'd probably still be whining about how I can't catch any fish on LSC.

Thanks fellas( lsc pro's) and of course, PETE! LOL

I never had any trouble gettin em on wigglers last year. For me, they outproduced minnows or anything else by about 15 to 1. Never saw such a huge preference in only one thing.

Ice fishing was awesome last year.

I don't fish LSC much, I stay out towards Chelsea, Jackson area when I'm down state. I fish Fletchers and some other lakes up that way when I'm up north. Gills were big and plentiful last year.

Can't wait to get out this year. I think I'm heading to Fletchers next weekend. Staying at Jacks Landing if I can get in. Even if the fishing stinks, the company there is great.

I went to lSC ice fishing for the first time last year, had a good time and got some nice perch each time I went. Looking foward to going again when the ice gets safe.

Had a great year last year, hoping for a better one this year. Started out well, but now we've lost the ice down here(LSC). Gotta try the browns and steelies through the ice this year, keep saying it, then spank the crappies or perch and can't tear myself away.

P-WOG, I had a great year on LSC. I used spikes last year with great success. I think the secret was I bought the spikes a couple days before I went fishing and sprinkled them with chicken seasoning. Try it, Tastes like chicken.......;)

LSC was slow for us also last year. But as always, you have to come prepared with a variety of baits, as well as move a lot. I don't have a fish finder or any of the high-tech stuff out there. I usually just drill 8 to 10 holes in about a 200 ft. circle, and then hop from hole to hole until I find some perch. This works well for me, but last year was tough because the ice was so thick so quickly. It made drilling that many holes by hand pretty tough. Almost bought a power auger just because of the thick ice. But most years it isn't a problem. And yeah like some of the others have said, you need to have several baits with you and try 'em all until you hit the right combination.

anyone remember the wind we had last year? seemed like every weekend in Feb was terrible (well, 3 out of 4 anyway). that's my beef about last year. other than that, Sag Bay produced good walleye numbers and size; a couple inland lakes produced decent crappie.
