Just double checking. Do I or don't I need a trail permit on my
snowmobile used for ice fishing only...? thanks

According to Boehr, you don't need a trail permit if you are using it only for ice fishing.

i think you are looking for an ORV permit. you can get one where you get your hunting or fishing license. a trail permit for a snowmobile is for the groomed trails. not the open ice.

Thats not what I was told by the DNR last winter on Houghton Lake. The only time you DO NOT need a trail permit is if your going to/from ice fishing location and on private property that you own/have permission to ride. Also, NO orv permit needed on a snowmobile.
