Just got back from Stoney. North lake has 4--4 1/2" out to the middle. 2-3" right at the shore. Nice and solid. Will be there tomorrow(Sunday) probably in the morning.
South lake still had some open areas towards the middle between the beaches and the boat launch.

250 lbs. is no problem for 4" of ice. I was jumping up and down and couldn't get it to crack.

We consider the north lake as being the one formed by the dam. South of 28 mile rd. to the park rd. at the dam. Good access from Ridgewood picnic area.

So the one that is across (I think its) Gunn road is the one that is closed. I herd mention that it was a sanctuary or something. I think you are referring to the main lake with swimming beaches.
Sorry for the confusion

Here is a map to hopefully avoid confusion.

Dan, now your confusing me. The south or main lake is where the 2 beaches are. Then a small lake is just to the north of the park road is the "north lake". There is a dam there. Then if you continue north you hit 28 mile rd. North of 28 mile rd. is the sanctuary. Hope this clears it up a bit.
Thanks Kevin for the map.

Anyone going to be there Sunday Dec 28th (Tomorrow)? I have to go to imlay city anyway so I could shoot down there and possibly meet up for an afternoon of fishing? How is the ice gonna hold up? I've never been there so I will only go if someone from the site will be there.

I'd like to but got a family Christmas thing going on at my house. Ice still should be just fine. Go to Ridgewood pinic area,go to the end of the parking lot and go down the hill to the lake. Follow the tracks to the middle of the lake and fish away.
