Is the water any higher at metro opposite the basin in the canal? I am talking about the canal north of the parking lot and right off it. Last year was really low. Thanks

When you go to the left all the way down towards the end, you'll have 5-6 feet of water there. Some good weeds too. I'm gonna go there tomorrow or Sunday. I'll let ya know whether its worth the trip or not:)

Thanks but i couldnt stand it anymore and drove out there after work. Five people fishing off the docks through holes they drilled. I walked to the canal on the otherside and there is open water near that big barge called the OCEANIS. Water seemed considerably higher this year that last. looking good. cant wait. Another week. Dinks and nibbles off the dock.

Arrived at Metro around 1:00 PM and saw a few people fishing from the docks in the basin. Most of the people were across the road fishing the canal. Before I got out of my truck I watched the DNR ticket a person for being over the limited. The officer dumped the guys black sled of fish into the box of his truck. People leaving the ice stated the fishing was really good in the morning. People got there limits. I watched a couple guys dump their buckets of fish on the ice to count them before going to the parking lot. The fishing was slow in the afternoon, I only caught a few dink perch. With the exception of one guy, I saw the same from the people around me. This one guy was out fishing the 12 people around him. so much for going to church in the morning!

Was not able to get out all weekend. My wife was sick all weekend. Thanx for the report. May try to get out Xmas eve morning weather permitting. Did they get bluegills or sunnies in that north canal?????:)

My inlaws came to town on Saturday - I think this may screw up my chances of getting out til next week.:mad:
