Hey everyone, stumbled on to this site and started reading. I became very interested and registered. I live in Northern Minnesota. You guys have the same problem we have in Minnesota, work keeps us away from doing what we want to do...icefish!
Heading to the big lake on Tuesday, 14 inches of ice!

Hey, let him rub it in. When we have 8 inches of good ice, they will be out with the tractor, 3point hitch and a post hole digger trying to find water and swearing the whole time! :D Welcome aboard!!

Whereabouts in Minnesota are you from? Our family has a cabin up on the Gunflint Trail (Clearwater Lake) and I take a trip to "Big Winnie" every year. How is the ice doing there?
Welcome Aboard.

Farther north and west. I'm fishing Lake of the Woods on the Canadien border.
Winnie has about 10-12 inches, from what I've heard. I'd assume the iron range has about the same .
Yes the ice gets pretty thick by March. With five months of winter, thank God for icefishing!

Welcome Tarkenton Its a great site. I just purchased an Ice shack from Minn. , a shop called Fishing Minnesota. Great people I spoke with on the phone. Looking foward to your post.
Go ahead and rub it in. But you'll have to check back with us around late April and see the photos of huge Walleye being pulled out of the rivers while wearing jeans and sweaters;)
By all means If you have a digital camera I'd love to see some of your lakes form an ice fishermans view.

welcome tarkenton.... I'm looking forward to hearing about stories from fishing over in MN. My friends and I rented a house boat a couple years ago near International Falls and had a ball.
I'm going to try to put together another trip like that, it was a blast.

tarkenton, yep It's a Glacier 3 . Nice heavy material and only 23 pounds to drag out.

Yes, and priced right, too. I've been looking at that one for a while now. It'd be nice to hear how it works for you. I'm worried it might be a little small for my needs. Looks like a good portable though.

They ahve a website for that Glacier 3? I have an older Shappel, with the cheap silver plastic stuff around it. IT works OK, but is damn noisy and the whole thing is kind of a pain to drag.

I think if you just do a search for Glacier fish house, you should be able to find it. I'm not sure of the rules for posting outside links.

Frantz, This is the site I got mine form . Fihsing Minnesota owner (rick)
http://fishingmn.com/secure-online-orders-glacier.html
They are shown in Blue, They are black. something about seeing details in the photo.
Tarkenton, I was impressed with how wide this thing was when I opened it. My Brother-en-law also has one and loves it. Now we can join them together and have a fishing condo.
I also have a big Fraibill but it's 89 lbs and a blu fish trap type, but that one is getting old and has plastic sides. 40% duct tape.
