Does anybody know were to get the best price on a Shappell
DX-4000 shanty. I need to downsize from the 6800-Clam when I don't have my ATV.
I have got a couple prices from.
Cabelas....$429
Bass Pro...$384

Ijust want to get the best price I can.
Thanks for any help

I always see a ton of different prices on that 4000, too. I'll tell ya one thing though,,, you're not gonna be pulling that 4000, very far without your ATV, anyway,,, that thing is a brute!! No where close to your 6800, but still a BEAST to be pullin' any distance. If you do go with the 4000, make sure you get the skis, that you can attach to the bottom of it, for easy pulling.

Gander Mountain will do a price match plus give you the difference, I would give them a call.

Mike,

How many guys are planning on fishing out of the shanty? Down size if your pulling it by hand. Billy the Kid hit it right, that thing is not a toy to pull with snow on the ice. I have 3000 I cuss just dragin across Kent Lake. I love my Shappell, but there has to be better options out there for when there's deep snow.

I've got the shapell 3000 deluxe with the pop up ski's and it pulls awsome. But it's only a 2-man. It's a little akward setting it up by myself so I'm thinking about a fish trap pro. Good luck

The only reason I want the Shappell with Ski's is I thought it would pull easier than my Clam. I Like to have a lot of room when I fish and also thought it would be an extra if a couple of more guys went. I very seldom have more than me and my brother in the Clam.

I would look at the flip up type like the Fish trap. They pull easy and work good for 2 people.

Mike,

I picked one up yesterday for my brother at Gander mountain for $369.99. They are also running a promotion that if you apply for their credit card you can save 10% on any purchase. It came with the ski's already attached and has the better fabric IMO.

I would look closer into a Fish Trap rather than a Shappell... and I own a Shappell. I think Fish Trap is made using higher quality components. not to mention a better design.

I like the Fish Traps but I just don't like the floor on them.
That is no floor.
