I am also in Commerce, and driving around several lakes yesterday, saw NO ONE out on them...I think next weekend should be decent if weather holds as predicted...

I drove out to the Jackson area this morning (Monday) and just about every lake I saw was completely covered with at least a covering of skim ice. Most of the lakes I stopped at had about 2 inches close to shore. Didn't have a spud with me or I would have explored further.

I have already walked on the shallow end of the pond I fish in eastern Washtenaw CO. Shouldn't be too long if the weather holds out.

Meijer in Westland has their ice gear on the shelves and I stocked up on jigs and teardrops. Picked up four dozen waxies from the liquor store in my neighborhood on the way home.

All my gear is ready to go, all I need is safe ice and its on.

I just figured I'd bump this up, to see if anyone had anymore reports on the ice conditions. The lakes that I fish around Oakland Co. are NOT ready yet. I've tried 4 mile lk. also, with not so mixed results,, NO BITES AT ALL!! I kinda gave up on that lake. I kinda transformed myself into a LSC junkie.

I've been fishing 4- mile for over 15 years and that lake is strange. One day its hotter than he11 the next its dead water. the key to it is watch for the weather and location is #1 most people will fish thier favorite summer spots and that ain't gonna work. This lake has a lot of good gills, I feed them donuts during duck and goose season when the shooting is slow. Also some large pike in there. get a good topo map and focus on areas that are 8'- 12' if you dont find them move 20' and try again. Believe me there is structure down there;)

Haven't tried since Saturday. Busted foot holes on Kent Lake and two ponds. Could walk on Island Lake but it takes more than an inch to get me off shore. More freeze than melt since then?

No good ice around Lake orion area (N Oakland Co.) went to a few small lakes Thur. and the wind had opened them up in the middle. More bad news-they are saying temps Mon and Tue will be in the 40s with rain. I'm wanting to get out real bad but looks like maybe another week or more.
