Anybody here use them ? Any good ? I see Cabela's has them for $25. Also wondering how many do you get for that price ? Single or do they come in a set 2 or more, Add didn't say.
Thanks

Check out past threads about JPolmans ice anchors made out of conduit. I made a couple of them and they work great! A lot cheeper too!....Patch

Your best bet are the T screws anchors that screw through the floor of your shanty. They are about 6-7" long and come in pairs...lots of places have them, Cabelas had them last week. Work great and cheap too! Don't need an extra hole or conduit/pvc, just small t screws.

Good Luck!

Mule Skinner,

those Ice Loks are $25 for ONE ! Take a look at the conduit anchor I made. You could make a couple dozen for $25. :)

Gordob will those screws hold even if winds kick up to 25mph+ ?

I wouldn't put holes in the bottom of your shanty. I had a hole in mine { fish trap } and didn't know it untill I got back to my truck and tried to lift it up. It had 300lbs or more of snow, ice and slush in it. What a job that was to take everthing out so I could pick it up and put it in my truck. It was very cold outside {that didn't help.} The 500 sportsman did a great job and I couldn't tell all that weight was back there when I was comming in. Anyone else had that happen to them?

If your fishing up-north where you have decent snow depths those screw anchors won't work well because of the snow!!

Jpollman posted while back on making your own anchors.

Take piece of conduit, 1 ft long. drill hole in middle, tie some rope to it. then thread another piece of rope through the tube.
Next, drill hole next to shanty until you hit water, put the tube in,
pull up on the middle rope and tie it to your shack. When finished, untie rope, pull on the rope you threaded thru the tube.

Cheap!
