I have a 1998 Magnum 3 Plus gas auger. The main bolt coming off the drive gear has snapped. (Not the shear bolt that holds the bit on the shaft). Does anyone know how I can fix this? Or does anyone know of a repair shop for ice augers...........Thanks

Joe does it look like something that could be welded. It's kind of hard to help without seeing it. Is there any way to post a picture. I am a pretty good fabricater working with steel but I don't know if that is what you need. Let me know and I'll try to help any way I can.

After taking off the housing and other stuff, I was quite confused with all the horizontal and vertical gears that all mesh together in some fashion. I'm pretty sure it's over my head as far as fixing it myself goes. I'll try & post some pics here within a couple days.....

Joe_G,

I took my power head to Richmond Mower on Division and Main for service a couple of years ago. It wasn't too expensive if I remember right. Call them and see if they can help.

I was just wondering if you had any luck with the auger.

Just before taking it in, I called the manufacturer, and they couldn't believe that the main shaft bolt broke before the shear pin did. So they fed ex'd me a short main shaft, some bolts, and an 8 1/2 x 11 exploded view on how to fix it, for free. It worked, and everything is good again........Decent customer support.

It doesn't get any better than that.
