Was fortunate enough this year to shoot a deer I thought about getting a head and shoulder mount done with. Called a taxidermist that has done a very good job with deer for a few friends, wanted $400 and 10-14 months to complete. I didn't mind the price but is a year normal turnaround time? I decided to just put up the horns as I have done with other deer in the past.
What are others hearing for price and turnaround?

Somethings wrong if it takes that long. I called four places this year one place was $495 and it took 3 months, one place was $415 and it took 6-8 months, another was $400 and it took 4-6, and the last one was $300 and I think that took 6 months. I went with the $400 4-6months one because I couldn't justify paying an extra 95 bucks for a month or two early.

Took mine in on the 14th of Nov and was told he'd have it done by the end of Jan. $350 for a head mount.(Gordys Taxidermy in Belleville 313-697-4103)
My other buddy took his some place elese $450 back by March or April.
If their work is good, it's worth the wait.

Was that price for a shoulder mount? There just around the corner from me. If I ever get a decent mounter:rolleyes: I'll keep them in mind.
Thanks Mule
