I'm still not sure what side dishes I'm going to make for Thursday. I'm also cooking a Turkey on Monday for my club's Christmas Dinner.

I'm looking for something oustide the normal sides like cranberry sauce, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes....etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

We have sort of an all-day buffet leading up to the actual Thanksgiving Day dinner lol

But when we first get back from the parade, one brunch item that is popular in our family is I guess what you would call sort of a quiche.

It is eggs, small chunks of sausage, onions, red and green peppers, cheeses, and sometimes bits of jalepeno baked, then sliced into little snackable squares. Love them for T-day brunch.

Real men eat quiche? lol

Actually, that sounds like something my 'sis would love, and my brother.....well that guy eats ANYTHING put in front of him so I might just give that a try.

I've had this as an appetizer and also have served it with a meal as a casserole. I like it with baked pita chips or as a spread for a nice bread.

Ypsi, thanks also for the feedback on turkey broth, I have a decent amount in the freezer now. :)

FLORENTINE ARTICHOKE DIP

Source: Southern Living

12 ounces marinated artichoke hearts
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup mayonnaise
12 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups fine, dry bread crumbs

Thaw and drain spinach; press between layers of paper towels. Drain and chop artichoke hearts.

Combine spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic, mayonnaise, cream cheese, lemon juice and Parmesan cheese, stirring well. Spoon into a lightly greased 11 x 7-inch baking dish; sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes.

Serve with crackers or breadsticks.

Thanks for the Spin-Art dip recipe, Sarah.

I have used a simillar recipe in the past and it is a winner. Ever cut the top out of a loaf of sourdough so that it makes a bowl and then pour in the dip and bake? Its awesome. Just heat up the dip prior to baking so that you don't burn the bread, you'll just be browning the top of the dip.

Mash up a bunch of tubers as if they were mashed potatoes. (parsnips, rutabegas, maybe a yam or two)

Sorry Chris I never noticed this till now. This is by far the best cake youlle ever try. I make rhubarb sauce by cooking down chopped rhubarb with enough water to boil and add sugar till its taste like sweet tarts but just a little sweeter.
Then just substitute this for water in a yellow cake mix.

....................Add extra butter and/or brown sugar to taste.Holy Cow Les! Your recipe already calls for a whole "stick" of butter and a cup of brown sugar, just when was the last time you had your cholesterol checked? :help:

My mom makes scalloped oysters for Thanksgiving. You have to like oysters, but if you do they are nice and a departure from potatoes and stuffing.
